It was an intentional play on the notion that you essentially won't read anything new, by a new author. Unless my name is Timothy Zaun, you don't know how to read. Also, in the time it took you to read and reply, you could have just read the three chapters and decided for yourself if you liked it. ...and if everyone's conversational English was an indication of their abilities as an author, we'd have very few authors.
