I'm not saying that a species can't adapt to its environment. I'm just saying that I don't believe that we evolve into something else entirely.
-
Well you don't have to worry about it because it won't happen in your lifetime.
-
You might be right about that. But if it does, I'll admit that I was wrong.
-
Speciation is a proven thing.
-
You and I are clearly not going to persuade each other of anything. I hope you have a good life. Good night.
-
The difference is one of us understands reality, the other warps it to fit their religious beliefs.
-
Believe what you will. As will I. Once again, have a good rest of your night.
-
You too.
-
Yes but there is a stove for your hand to be burned, and it is right there. You don't have that in your case.
-
It's a small analogy for a bigger point. God instructs His children who will listen to him that sin is in the world. He instructs us on how to conduct our lives so that we don't have to suffer the consequences of sin.
-
Edited by Jack: 3/20/2015 12:25:55 AMSo if I'm a good person, have an extremely positive impact on the world, but don't believe in your god or believe in the "wrong" one, I am going to suffer the consequences.
-
The Bible says that we can't earn our way into heaven. It's says we have to recognize that we are sinners, who need the salvation that only by calling on Him can we receive. I can't say who is going to heaven or not, because I don't know people's hearts. I just know that you have to accept Christ's sacrifice for your sins and then He is obligated, through His own word, to save you.
-
I'm sorry but I dont think you understand, I don't take the bible literally at all. It is just a book to me, just like any other book. The Quran says the same thing, the Torah and all the other religions have claims that go unproven just like yours. I don't take the bible as the truth just as you don't take the Quran. So you can't use the bible to try to get me to agree with you, it will never work. I hope you understand this.
-
So the rest of the world is wrong
-
About what?
-
Their gods and holy books
-
Yes, I believe that Jesus is the only way to receive salvation. I'm not angry with other people of other religions. I just believe that they're misguided. I know that they most certainly believe that of me. I can appreciate that. That doesn't dissuade me from what I believe though.
-
But they believe what they do because of what family they were born in, same with you. You would think that Allah was your savior if you were born into a Muslim family and you would think Christians were misguided. That's a pretty big problem.
-
That's true. I would like to believe that if that were the case, that if I had the same information about both beliefs that is undeniably true. I would choose to follow the belief that says "I'll die for you so you can be with Me" as opposed to a belief that teaches that one way to get into paradise is to kill "infidels".
-
That's not what Quran says, both books have a lot about killing nonbelievers the bible says homosexuals should be stoned to death
-
That is what the Old Testament said, no debate there. But if you understand that in the New Testament, essentially a new covenant, after Christ died for us, we're to "love each other, as we do ourselves." Now, sins are still sins and the ultimate consequence for sin is death. Christ paid the price for it though, if you accept it. But if you don't accept it, you have to pay the penalty yourself. So in summary, Christ fulfilled the demand for guiltless blood to satisfy the Old Testament. Therefore we are to follow the New Testament.
-
Edited by Jack: 3/20/2015 2:23:38 AMThat's what I'm talking about, you completely dismiss anything bad in the old testament but then accept Adam and eve and talking snakes.
-
I'm not dismissing anything. Under the Old Law mankind lived under really harsh laws. That's my point! Sin requires blood. That's why He came and paid the ultimate price for sin! We no longer have to pay the price for our sins. That doesn't dismiss the origin story. I'm just saying we're under a very different covenant now. That's like saying I don't believe the origin story of the United States because they had slavery until almost a 100 years later.
-
Also there are over a hundred verses in the Quran that glorify and endorse violence towards unbelievers. The difference between the Bible and the Quran is that the violence in the Bible is under the Old covenant and God gave us a better way to deal with sin. The Quran still gives allowances and rewards for those that kill in the name of the faith. If any of this information offends anyone, your problem isn't with me, it's with the information.

Ok, sure I get your point, now disprove Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, Confucianism, Druidism, Paganism, polytheism, Satanism, Scientology, Shinto, Sikhism, Universalism, Pantheism, and so so so so much more. Why is christianity correct?
