Destiny = Pay To Play
I hate how one of the weekly strikes
REQUIRE you to have TDB expansion; it makes me sick with anger whenever I ask my friend "Hey wanna run through the nightfall strike with me real quick?" and he replies "Nope, can't. It's omnigul." My friend doesn't have the expansion pack. The hell, Bungie?!?! My friend could have gotten an exotic, or a weapon that is absolutely OP in the crucible, but you deny him that chance because of this.
He can't get above level 30 either, so that means he gets stomped in the Iron Banner. (There's some Pay To Win for ya.) He can't get HoC and doesn't have G-horn, so it takes forever to find a VoG group that isn't full of the kind and intelligent elitists that we all know and love.
There are even places that are from the HoW that people have [i]already glitched into[/i]! (I've done it myself.) The $hit that we are all psyched to throw our money at is already in the game! Why are they making us pay for something that is already in the game?!
I'm so afraid that this rumored "Comet, Plague of Darkness" Mega DLC will also feature the content for the other two remaining DLCs. The Comet bs will be so full of Pay To Win/Play at this rate. What if the rumored new subclasses are OP? What if the weapons in this expansion are OP?
The bungie I know wouldn't do this. (Hell, any smart company wouldn't do this...)
If you don't like speculation then don't read this spoiler. [spoiler]I personally think it's Activision's fault. Bungie never did anything of this magnitude to us loyal fans before they paired up with Activision. They were great to their crowd when they were paired up with Microsoft, even.[/spoiler]

Edit 1: I play with him on PS3. He got his own a long time ago, and he got Destiny for his birthday from another friend.
Edit 2: You guys totally are right about the term Pay To Play and how I should have expected a lot of expansions. Don't get me wrong, I like the dark below. But I really think that having to pay for content that's already in the game is fuqed up. I don't believe that you should have to pay again for something that you already paid for.

Every "modern" shooter is pay to play. Look at BF and CoD. Nothing new here

3 RepliesThis topic gets beaten to death every time the weekly is omnigul. The dlc's are a one time fee. You pay it once. And you get to play more content. The topic about the data that was already on the disks for future expansions is also redundant. When bungie was making this game they laid out the design for the WHOLE game. Which they then had broken up and distributed over time to help keep the content fresh. If the game including house of wolves and the dark below expansions were playable from the start people would of burned out on this game long ago. Trust me when I say that what bungie is doing now is better than the alternative.

5 RepliesIf you can afford a console the game Internet to play destiny and a tv I'm sure people can spare the money for the expansion. If you can't afford the expansion you may want to rethink your priorities on gaming.

I'm almost a level 32 without the DLC. I do get annoyed though when the nightfall is not in my playlist. Trying to get more level 32 gear through iron banner.

"Destiny = Pay To Play" Yes, yes it is. This is how companies make money. They make something, then sell something for money. It's a simple concept. If you want to play all of the game then buy the expansion.

Players would then have a choice of which 1 they play. Playing 1 would negate the possibility of playing the other tho. (for ppl with the dlc that would have access to both.)

If he can't get the money to buy the pass then he has no life or no job to pay for it. And even if he or she has a life and a job but money is tight I'm sure anyone could find a way to buy it

I think it's amazing how if someone doesn't spend more money on destiny, then we're broke and unable to afford it. Such simple-minded people. Lol. How's about some of us, simply didn't want to pay for more repetitiveness much like the previous? Truth be told, NO, my family isn't rich but we could hire on a few of you to assist with the construction site that we'll be starting on at the tip of the summer. And I think the pay out for that is well enough beyond a mere $20 just to descend into another slightly different Vault of glass.

14 RepliesEdited by Shiver: 3/18/2015 10:47:15 PMThat's why Warframe is better (Free game, free DLC, no repeat events, Trading, every weapon is good, over 15 characters to choose from, litteraly hundereds of mods for your character, weapons and companions, companions, space battles, more planets, bosses on nearly every planet, more modes, more loot, less frustration, still RNG but in sertin places so you know where to grind.) And EVERY weapon is earned because you have to grind for the RNG parts but then you get to build it yourself. But the RNG parts for different weapons and warframes are scattered in different places, you just have to know where to grind.

3 RepliesYeah, that's usually how it works. If you don't buy something then you don't get to use it. He's not stuck at 30, vendor gear goes to 31 so that argument is also invalid. He already got that boost for free, now he should get all the other content the rest of us paid for as well? Makes no sense. He didn't buy a nightfall each week, and if they only let the weekly and daily missions be vanilla content those of us who paid for new content would be livid. Companies support those that support them. If he's playing enough that it matters to him, then the $20 investment is worth the number of hours he'll get out of it.

They should just release a compatibility pack so as they could tag other games such as borderlands have done so I believe
