I hate how one of the weekly strikes
REQUIRE you to have TDB expansion; it makes me sick with anger whenever I ask my friend "Hey wanna run through the nightfall strike with me real quick?" and he replies "Nope, can't. It's omnigul." My friend doesn't have the expansion pack. The hell, Bungie?!?! My friend could have gotten an exotic, or a weapon that is absolutely OP in the crucible, but you deny him that chance because of this.
He can't get above level 30 either, so that means he gets stomped in the Iron Banner. (There's some Pay To Win for ya.) He can't get HoC and doesn't have G-horn, so it takes forever to find a VoG group that isn't full of the kind and intelligent elitists that we all know and love.
There are even places that are from the HoW that people have already glitched into! (I've done it myself.) The $hit that we are all psyched to throw our money at is already in the game! Why are they making us pay for something that is already in the game?!
I'm so afraid that this rumored "Comet, Plague of Darkness" Mega DLC will also feature the content for the other two remaining DLCs. The Comet bs will be so full of Pay To Win/Play at this rate. What if the rumored new subclasses are OP? What if the weapons in this expansion are OP?
The bungie I know wouldn't do this. (Hell, any smart company wouldn't do this...)
If you don't like speculation then don't read this spoiler.
I personally think it's Activision's fault. Bungie never did anything of this magnitude to us loyal fans before they paired up with Activision. They were great to their crowd when they were paired up with Microsoft, even.
Hope you enjoyed my rant. I'll be adding edits later on.
Edit 1: I play with him on PS3. He got his own a long time ago, and he got Destiny for his birthday from another friend.
Edit 2: You guys totally are right about the term Pay To Play and how I should have expected a lot of expansions. Don't get me wrong, I like the dark below. But I really think that having to pay for content that's already in the game is fuqed up. I don't believe that you should have to pay again for something that you already paid for.

Search bar. .. this is old news and no one really cares
-
So let me get this right: you friend does not want to or cannot pay for the DLC, yet on this little planet that you 2 live on, you believe that it is unfair for him to not have access to payable content without having to pay for sed content? MMmh, I see the logic and its retarded. Don't play the game then. Move on. Go play something awesome like minecraft or FF or BF Hardline

Edited by SickQQKills: 3/19/2015 12:31:05 PMDont worry, your friend isnt missing your help. All your stuff sucks anyways you crybaby. Suck it up and shut up meg
-
Edited by Shiba: 3/19/2015 12:08:39 PMI don't think you understand the term "Pay to Play". A real P2P game would be Warframe for example, you CAN play the game and get items or you could burn about 50 bucks and get the best weapons in the game...and if it's that much of a problem, just system transfer the DLC to your friend if you want to play with him that bad
The more you know
One word: Activision
-
I'm in that boat, but we can get to 31 and even 32 through Iron Banner. I am really annoyed how the weeklies and even dailies require DLC, that's just wrong.
-
From the opposing standpoint, most companies can't afford to make expansions without making people pay,
-
So let's cater to the people who don't pay for new content? Go sell lemonade if you don't have the expansion.
-
Tell your friend to get his hand in his pocket, tout suite.
-
People are still crying about this?
-
I am paying. 5 bucks a month so I can play Destiny online.
-
love reading these things ppl being so mad over this yet games like cod have dlc day one and on all the fing time usually more expensive to yet we complain about cut content witch sure isn't right but isn't going to change since devs and other team members who code shit have to be paid also. I guess my response to this would be either support it or don't. If you love the game 15$ is usually a month on a mmo so its not like you don't have options like quit bitching and either move on or buy the dlc.
-
Vender gear is 31 tho
-
He can't get above level 30 either, so that means he gets stomped in the Iron Banner.
He can. He may not have reached it yet, but with armor sold on the Tower and exotic armor your friend can reach level 31. The gear that came with the expansion pack is available to everyone.
-
First off ur talking about pay to win, not pay to play, and second. I can get lvl 32 without the dlc, my friend did it
-
Bungie take my money, comet here I come.
-
Edited by SirOtter: 3/19/2015 10:54:42 AMWhy are you even playing if you don't have the DLC. People actually still talk about that? Holy hell, it's not like you've never bought DLC ever in your life. It's only the same pattern we've followed since day one of Xbox live...game comes out, pay $60, pay 15-20 every four months or so.
-
How about you pay for his dlc and stop complaining. Bungie owes you nor your friend nothing but the base content. Nightfall is a luxury as well as being 32.
-
You bought the game, it's obviously pay to play
-
I am always ready to pay for anything that I want. Developers have any right for getting paid for their good work. Like I am paid for my work☺
-
most of the games are "pay to play" , i tried a few free to play games but they usually suck and have tons of microtransactions
-
So all others games you guys have played up until this point of time, that had DLC, was totally fine and was not a problem? That makes no sense that your hating on Destiny DLC when other games do it clearly. This is your post. My friend is too poor to afford a very common idea that a been done for the last 10+ years. Yeah I know it's only $20, gonna cry about it anyway. It's not even needed to play the game, It's just ONE Strike I can't play with him waaah waah. No I've never thought about buying it for him, like a true friend. I'll instead complain how Destiny is "Pay to play" like every other game. Do I need to mention how other games are doing dlc now? Evolve came out with more DLC than what the game has on the freaking disc...This is gaming industry get used to it or gtfo.
-
I want to race cars round Silverstone. Now I know the cars are already there and on track everyday, so why should I have to pay to do it. It's an outrageous situation!
-
To be honest, as lacklustre TDB was, you're missing out pretty badly if you don't have it still.
-
Step one : it's 2015 , get ps4/Xbox one Step two : buy dlc Step three : enjoy
-
So you need to buy one single expansion. If that's even too much to bare, then don't play destiny.
