I hate how one of the weekly strikes
REQUIRE you to have TDB expansion; it makes me sick with anger whenever I ask my friend "Hey wanna run through the nightfall strike with me real quick?" and he replies "Nope, can't. It's omnigul." My friend doesn't have the expansion pack. The hell, Bungie?!?! My friend could have gotten an exotic, or a weapon that is absolutely OP in the crucible, but you deny him that chance because of this.
He can't get above level 30 either, so that means he gets stomped in the Iron Banner. (There's some Pay To Win for ya.) He can't get HoC and doesn't have G-horn, so it takes forever to find a VoG group that isn't full of the kind and intelligent elitists that we all know and love.
There are even places that are from the HoW that people have already glitched into! (I've done it myself.) The $hit that we are all psyched to throw our money at is already in the game! Why are they making us pay for something that is already in the game?!
I'm so afraid that this rumored "Comet, Plague of Darkness" Mega DLC will also feature the content for the other two remaining DLCs. The Comet bs will be so full of Pay To Win/Play at this rate. What if the rumored new subclasses are OP? What if the weapons in this expansion are OP?
The bungie I know wouldn't do this. (Hell, any smart company wouldn't do this...)
If you don't like speculation then don't read this spoiler.
I personally think it's Activision's fault. Bungie never did anything of this magnitude to us loyal fans before they paired up with Activision. They were great to their crowd when they were paired up with Microsoft, even.
Hope you enjoyed my rant. I'll be adding edits later on.
Edit 1: I play with him on PS3. He got his own a long time ago, and he got Destiny for his birthday from another friend.
Edit 2: You guys totally are right about the term Pay To Play and how I should have expected a lot of expansions. Don't get me wrong, I like the dark below. But I really think that having to pay for content that's already in the game is fuqed up. I don't believe that you should have to pay again for something that you already paid for.

Do I hear a scrub?
-
I paid for my dlc why should I lose out because they didn't /couldn't pay for it.
-
how, I go positive in iron banner with my hunter since lvl26 and I 2 shot with arc blade
-
People without the expansion can now hit level 32 and get most of the upgraded damage guns besides raid gun. Yeah, its pay to play
-
I'm sorry but do u have a job? Or I'm going to make an assumption that you are in school and will most likely have a job in the future, right? With either case, that job is going to pay you money. Why? Because that money is required to give you food and shelter, and??? Yes. That's right, money to buy a video game you just might enjoy. Now, Bungie has employees that need to make money, just like you and I. I Have a feeling you know where I'm going with this so I won't be anymore blunt. Paying 30 dollars for an expansion pass is a drop in the bucket for someone that has a fairly decent job. I would wager that is the majority of people that have graduated high school, not to mention college or vocational school I don't mean to be rude, but let's get real, and for all those thinking Bungie should give us stuff for free.... What drugs are you on to think that? Ok I could go on but I'm not. Peace.
-
agreed. bungie was a great company. I agree that most of the blame should be on activision. but they have a contract so activision isn't going anywhere unfortunately

Cough up or miss out. Sucks to be poor.
-
Why can't he get past 30 ? Lol dude buy the god damn vanguard armor boom 31. Play Vog boom lvl 30. Your not helping your friend very well. Hell buy the god damn crucible armor

Fück it, do you know what? I find it unfair that the old strikes are still in rotation more than the new ones even though I've paid for the new stuff. They should have at least equal times for both.

Its $20 for the expansion pay to win would be like if there was another currency you had to buy with money and you could buy high end upgrade materials, or reputation and experience bonuses. Im very happy destiny isnt pay to win.
In your case its pay to whine.
If you think about it we are actually getting a good deal. Destiny is a mmo-ish game, most mmo's charge monthly subscription fees to play the game. Destiny we pay the same amount for an expansion as most mmo's pay per month only difference is we get months to play our expantions till the next ones are released.

Pretty sure you don't understand what pay to play mesns

Never have I come across such drivel ... Quit moaning, it's tiresome, it doesn't take long to save £20

These posts really need to stop. Annoying on so many levels. - Your friend can reach 31 from vendor gear, which is still purchasable without DLC. He could reach 32 with Ironbanner. - 31 will not get creamed in IronBanner, with the gear I use I am always a 31. - Bungie has stated DLC strikes will be in rotation every 3wks, as such guess what it's that week again. - Bungie has done this before, so its nothing new. They blocked multiple social and ranked playlists in halo3 when you didn't own certain map packs. That's not one mission every 3 weeks that was a ranked playlist for months... - This is a game of progression: level gets higher, weapons get stronger, new stuff comes out. If you don't want to progress then don't play the game. - VoG doesn't require tracking rockets, but that won't stop the nature of the community. Not the game's fault, that is failure of society...

Stop complaining and finish your homework
-
If they didn't put DLC strikes in the rotation, then people who have the DLC are shafted, since they never have a reason to play the content they paid for.
-
You can get to 31 with no dlc.
-
Edited by AburameDon: 3/18/2015 5:55:25 PMThis is nowhere near pay-to-play. If it were we would only* be allowed to do like 5 strikes/crucibles before having to wait a few hours or pony up to "recharge"
-
I'm giving away the dlc Friday night on my stream if you are interested in it! Twitch.tv/zimbleeder After 15 new followers I'll start giving away The Dark Below and/or House of Wolves
-
No shit. Did you think it would be free for 10 years? Expansions and updates cost money. Just pay if you want to keep playing. Not that serious
-
The game is going to keep expanding and if you don't buy the expansions, you'll be left behind. This is really an all-in or don't play kind of game. I mean, I guess you could keep playing 1.0.X, but you'd get really bored IMHO. House of Wolves might fix a lot of things, but it's not going to be free and will likely add more paywall events in the game. I committed to at least buying all of the 1.X content. I didn't see much point to playing it if I wasn't going to get all of it. It's still a lot cheaper than WoW (which I still pay for but haven't played much since August).
-
No, Warframe is pay to win.
-
Edited by ViperVenom1224: 3/18/2015 5:47:15 PMWe all knew this when we bought the game, what's the point in playing the game if your not gonna buy the expansion, it's only 20$ if you have the time to play this game, and rage about it, then you have time to go out and get 20$ and buy it. It's not that much money, and if you really have such a tight budget that you can't give up 20$ than why are you playing videogames? I know that you said you're friend, I'm just speaking generally

£75 for the game TDB and HoW. That's what I paid and I think I've had around 1000 hours of enjoyment so far and the HoW isn't even out yet. The only other game in my l o n g gaming history where I got as much enjoyment was the halo series. So far it works out at 7.5 pence per hour. Bargain of the century. Did deep, tightwad.
