No, it would be too meta. I like the "official" feeling of the Crucible being something we, as Guardians, must prove our worth in.

Exactly, and crucible would work if there was a ranking system but there isn't. Who knows why, as I see no downside to skill based tracking and matchmaking even if it is hidden. Gives the skilled players more competition and those who are newer to pvp don't get frustrated because they are getting stomped all the time. Would probably bring more pve people to pvp. Everyone wins.

Agreed, I don't get it at all. The only thing I can think of is that they somehow held focus groups and determined too many people would get frustrated and leave the game if they couldn't get max rank. Sadly games now are setup so that anyone can get everything done or completed. Instead of rewarding skill they reward time played.
