Professions as a whole would make Destiny a more heavily based RPG game as it's only got very few progression based activities which lead to very little benefit for the player whereas adding something along the lines of having this would enable a player to enhance their game style and others around them.
This Energy Cell Engineer is just pure example but even something as simple as this would introduce better social features etc into the game, which brings me to my next point! a MARKETPLACE!
There's a lot of things out there players are willing to part with or would like to have and I am not talking about having an auction house just to enable players to buy their way with Raid Gear as such as that should be content locked away for Vets to earn from facing their Darkest times within the Destiny world!
This brings me to materials; having a profession which crafting is involved means materials and I am not talking about just re-using stuff already in the game, I am talking about a whole new bundle of fancy materials which all have different out-comes when used and rarities to find. Not only these materials can be Sold/Traded through the marketplace but the could add farming properly to the game, creating new NPC's which spawn in certain areas which drop specific items and materials which also will brighten the social part of the game - no one should feel alone when venturing into the Mothlands!
Say if this Engineer profession is real; the amount of things you could intertwine to make this stuff interesting. The cell would need constructing to begin with or maybe find a long lost one washed up on the Forgotten Shores?! Maybe certain materials need fusing, another profession could come into that, so fourth!
Something to do with Weapon-smith and Armor-smith would be great too, bring a whole new bracket of gear into the game which is past 'legendary'... Elite? I don't know but there's so many options as such to involve but I honestly feel some of this stuff would make the game ever so more addictive.
...become a tailor and design your own shader? now that's cool.
Support the idea?! Nay or Yay?
