Actually, looking at the dialogue of Hunters and Warlocks, it looks like that it's less tension, more the sort of ribbing that comes from a sort of symbiotic relationship. Titans are fixed-point defenses, while Hunters and Warlocks are both more accustomed to the world beyond the walls. In different ways, yes, but still outside. Hunters go out, explore, and find the ancient ruins, which then brings the Warlocks to investigate the significance of the ruins themselves.
