Hi @DeeJ
Firstly, thank you guys for changing Xur's inventory. I kind of enjoy the secret (even if I shout expletives on Friday if NLB's are on sale).
Now to the topic which has bothered me for quite a while.
I am a Destiny lover, I have loved each minute, each second, each kill & each hour of farming on it.
Although
- I dont put 4-5hrs daily in the game
- I dont have multiple characters
- I am not a regular follower of forums such as Reddit etc where Destinites flock
- I joined the Destiny family a bit late
- By the time I learned about raiding, the Destinites had already moved on. So a L26 VOG had actually become a relic of the past which no one wants to touch especially with a noob now since the time taken to clear would increase.
- I have made many friends, but now since everything has moved on - no one is kind of going to go through the raid grind again or carry a noob. Plus it is already hard to find one player like that - the raid requires us to find 5!
- Most of the players now have their own raider groups, and those who are as open as me now dont have any 4-5hr regular pro help us
So that made me wonder and hence ask you
- Does that make us what is called "Bottom of the pit" players?
- Is it that you guys have designed the game in a way that those who cant spend the said amount of time & cant find groups of 6 and need help to learn some aspects of the game languish at the bottom and make up the RNG numbers so that the top ones get better items (although I have no clue how this RNG works or even if this point is relevant to that debate, but hope you would get the sentiment)
- And this means we will never get any elemental damage primaries as apart from Raids, there is no other way to get those.
- So by the extension, we will also never be able to do Nightfalls faster since all higher level enemies would have elemental shields and both secondaries have a limitation of ammo. So will be less likelier to get any exotic. Plus even if we do...guess what...it wont be an elemental primary
- This also means elemental primaries are only reserved for those who can put up a 6 man raid squad experienced enough to get it through and they can get as many as they want to dismantle
- And anyone who likes to go solo or doesnt have a way to get 5 people (with 2-3 good exp porters) help out on a raid can pretty much forget seeing an elemental primary in his/her vault or inventory
If your answer to any or all of the above points is "Yes"
Then tell us what should we do in Destiny now since from the angle I am looking at it, unless I start playing 5-6hrs and go through a grind to find 5 willing souls ready to help out - we will always be the "Bottom of the Pit"?
So should we quit?
I am not asking for Xur to sell Galleys or Suros, I can grind and get it. It is not a question about exotics.
Cant there be another way to get elemental primaries, even if it means its slightly harder but achievable with a fireteam of 3?
Cant there be pawning allowed between players, so instead of dismantling their 7th or 8th Vex, someone can give it out?
Cant the sellers sell it. Well if Iron Banner can sell L32 armor, cant there be a seller who sells Elemental primaries?
Cant raids be matchmaking?
Cant certain steps in raid be available in parts on matchmaking?
If anyone else out there has the same sentiments, please tag yourself in the comments.
@DeeJ - would be great if you could discuss your views on this

Befriend the ppl u do roc strikes with. U get to cherry pick the good ones and are usually in the same level. That's what I did when I only had a few ps friends and now I got a bunch
-
Red death was just sold. Exotic? Yes. Primary? Yes. Burn? Well... Yes! Even the day one players started at the bottom. We've all font through a raid for the first time. Everyone has been in this situation. Most of us have used the threads to find a group to take us along, or find other bodies to bring in. Realistically, it isn't the games fault, or the designers manipulating late start players to stay "bottom of the Pitt". Its simply, for a lit if us, next gen consoles. I have so many friends on 360 and ps3 that haven't taken the plunge forward yet. Hell I don't even have a PS4 yet. So the few friends I have on xb1 we try to get together and raid. Schedules don't always mesh though. I have numerous " randoms" on my list. I'll send them a message from time to time to see if they want to fill an empty slot on a raid. One "random" has actually become a decent internet friend and we usually end up knocking out our weekly duties together with a mix of his friends and mine. Then you branch out getting to know their friends and before you know it, you'll have a regular raid group together. As far as learning the raids, think of i t like this. Some raid team had to be the first ones in. The first to reach the next checkpoint. The first to conquer it. I'm what's called a "Christmas noob". I'm alright with that. I have time vested. I'm well versed in raids and know what needs to happen to succeed, but the disappointing aspect to me, is I was shown what to do. Told what was happening and why. To me, that lessened the experience. When HoW comes out, I have my raid group set for our first steps inside. We're gonna figure it out, and this time I'll be part of the exploration. Simply put, all games are what you make of them. The tools are there to make friends and succeed. You just have to be willing to use them and not expect everything to be given so easily because you choose not to apply yourself. This is in no way to out you down or belittle you. If you were on xb1, I would be more than willing to put aside some time with my clan and walk you through. Show you the ins and outs, dos and don'ts. There are people out there more than willing to help. I still have many exotics to gain, so it wouldn't harm me at all to bring someone along for mutual benefit. Keep your head up guardian. A positive attitude, and a little will, can take you a long way.

DeeJ doesn't control the damn game! He's just a Community Manager.
-
What system are you on. We run "noobs" all the time cause it's a good thing to do. Ran a hard mode noob though twice last night. Man was he pumped. It's worth it just to see someone be that excited about getting the stuff they wanted.
-
Use the lfg and quit feeling sorry for yourself. There are plenty of experienced players out there who will help a noob like yourself. We just want to know that they are not crybabies and will be quite and take advice and learn. We all started somewhere which means it is about attitude. And frankly I am not so sure about yours.
-
I don't think there's that much to discuss honestly. I was trying to find places to agree with you. Want to learn the raid but cant find anyone willing to teach? Watch some Youtube videos. Take it one phase at a time. Don't have time to do the whole raid? Join in at a checkpoint man. Join at Atheon for the vex. Join at templar for fatebringer. Join at Crota when you're a high enough level. There's solutions to your problems. Work to find em man
-
If you remove all incentive to raid, why would people raid? (And no, raiding for the sake of raiding doesn't work. Blizzard tried that in WoW, the majority of players always take the path of least resistance)
-
Jesus Christ dude.. All you have to do is play strike after strike and do bounties to get to Vanguard level 2. You can get 100 marks in a week so within a week and a bit you can now buy a full set of legendary armour and be level 31 once you max it out. Simple. Once your 31 you can do Hard VoG with ease and can do Normal Crota no problem. Then once you become skilled you can do hard Crota. Granted a lot of people don't let 31s into hard mode. Keep doing normal mode then and get to 32. It takes some time yeah, but it does not require 5 hours daily. You just have to know what you're doing so stop whining and trying to change the game, just learn how to play it.
-
Deej aint gonna reply to this (unless he has already) he is too busy swimming in his pool of cash
-
You already have all the gear to do hard mode crota. It takes like an hour and a half to find a group and complete it. Watch a couple videos and do a raid. It's not that hard.
-
Grump grump, read the first two/last two responses, TLDR, we are weak genitals TJ. As for power playing, I've done it. If I could stack the ranks and xp my Titan alone would be light lvl 70, vanguard 20 and maybe fwc 10 also Crota bane 6. But I grinded down 3 or more Titans till I got the look and dance moves I wanted. Also mats, I could make it rain wit plastiplate and spinmetals! Point is, while I got some great "drops" it didn't seem to help me stay ahead of the difficulty curve. What seems to happen is that loot is somewhat relative to you and your " play style". I didn't start getting exotic gear till legendary gear was trivial to me. Maybe that's just my crumby perspective not fact. But what is a fact is that I have got more "husk's" than I know what to do with, but my buddy can't get one. He is arguably the better player( especially based upon the commenters assessment of competency) with 3 lvl 32 characters, being a "dayoner" and having completed both raids on hard multiple times. He seems to farm for the husk daily, and I just got 2 in one patrol... mission, yesterday. Maybe it's RNG maybe it's BF Skinner, idk, what I do know is that I'd gladly trade him 4 husk's and an alpha lupi for one elemental primary. Ultimately if there is a point to quitting, that's not for us TJ. We need to just wait it out, all of the cyber jocks will go back to Madden with Guns once 343 drops its hot chief all over their quivering consoles. I am confident that bungee has created a great game that once the " I play all of the games" people clear out people will start to get better loot roles. After all the RPG aspect of this game begs me to assume that: since GoW junkies are literally milking the good loot out of the game world by being "too good" instead of us being lame is actually the reason "the loot system is broken".

Lmao stopped reading Try lfg or destiny recruitment instead of winging fag boy
-
I do not have a dedicated raid group. I get into groups all of the time. I find the challenge for me is to play with randoms and beat the raids with the least amount to wipes. Trying to figure everyone play style, weapon & armor abilities, strategy, and beat the raids quickly is fun. Destiny end content is about the social aspect, not solo play. Matchmaking for raids will not help. They will not make the raids faster or easier. It will probably cause players to leave destiny. The weekly was fun. Now it's a mixed bag. Most players don't have mics, they refuse to join the fireteam, and are lone wolves. You seem frustrated. At the end of the day it's just a game.
-
Have you ever played this game or do you go to forums to bítch about you sucking ass. Because first off you don't need to do raids to "git gud" you can get to level 31 just from leveling up vanguard, crucible, or any other faction. You can also as part of leveling up factions buy legendary weapons. You can do the weekly for xur and the nightfall for a chance at exotics. There are weapons you can buy with burn damages. Only reason to do raids is for more weapons with burn damages armor to get to level 32 which only comes from Crota and another few chances at exotics. So please shut up about being sad that your a low level. If you can't grind out the game enough to get good gear then don't complain because your not putting the time in then. Oh and I only am allowed to play on weekends and I have a level 32 character with 11 or 12 raid completions most of my favorite things in the game you can get also without having to do raids
-
You Could've went to the Destiny Recruitment section and finished a normal Crota raid in the same amount of time it took to write this post.
-
Wow, you really want one of them elementary primaries don't you?
-
If you put in less time and effort you will be towards the bottom of the pit... That's not Bungie's fault.. I don't mean to sound like an ass, it's just logic. There are still people who still do VoG normal, I see posts from there everyday. Search the forums and LFG sites to find a team.
-
You can get vendor equipment to reach lv31 and do daily missions and public events for ascendent materials. There is no reason why you should "stay" at the bottom of the pit because the game infrastructure is built for any player to reach lv31 without help of RNG.
-
U on 360 i got a group of friends that wouldnt mind teaching u the vault
-
Use destinylfg.com/net
-
Lelscrub Bottom of the pit? Well if you can't put in 24 hours a day, don't bother playing, filthy casual. On a serious note, (not being rude) get some friends. Go on crucible or tower and ask around. Or steal $60 from a real friend, then buy him destiny and tell him it's a "gift" *wink wink* OR Level up your favored faction, buy armor, become (atleast) 29, then do the hard raid VoG, but watch walk throughs beforehand
-
You don't have to put in a lot of time each day to get good gear, just need to use your time wisely. If you want to goof around, just know that you are not going to lv your guy up as fast as you can. That is ok because you are playing the way you want. If you want to raid sooner, then you will have to "grind" a bit more often. Just remember, once you are done with the "grind" then this game start to slow down.
-
If you have trouble finding groups try destinylfg.net or destinylfg.com they are meant for players who can't really get groups together ask the time. Just watch some videos before so you know what you're doing and you should be fine
-
You're not putting any effort into finding a raid team. When I post up on LFG, I have to turn down so many players. I understand that you have to start somewhere, but this game doesn't necessarily lean towards experienced players, like you're trying to say.
-
VoG is quite a difficult raid, well, not difficult per say, but if your team is full of randoms it's already going down hill because of the different strategies and no one to take lead on the raid. For example, I was doing atheon with some friends and their friends, I go to the back door to shoot atheon atheon and they go to mid platform, nobody said that so when I grabbed relic and went to the back they went to the mid and died. What I'm trying to get at is wait till you have a solid team to do VoG. You say you're level 31 and at that level you can do hard crota. It's pretty easy to get the weapons from there and they're elemental also. Doing crota with randoms is easy, my friend and I help randoms all the time. You really just need a good sword bearer. If you're on 360 I'd love to help :) And if groups tell you that you can't do hard crota because you're level 31 then find a new group because they're douches. Goodluck ^.^

If you are on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. My GT is same as above. Send me a friend request with a quick message reminding me who you are. I will get some people together and run you through the raids. I have two requirements though: 1. You must be level 32 2. You must have a Ghorn. Lmao just kidding. All I require is patience and the ability to listen and follow directions. We will wipe a time or two when teaching you the mechanics of the different raid sections and fights. Be prepared to laugh and have a good time while learning.
