Suros was handed out like candy when Xur sold it multiple times, it became notorious in PvP, then it got nerfed.
The real reason people are wary is because Red Death is in danger of suffering the same fate.
I know you guys want to be all like "U MAD BRAH XUR SOLD RED DEATH DERP XD", but there may be some actual repercussions here.

Nearly nobody had the coins to afford it back then. People love to forget that. Excluding week #1, Suros and Red Death have both been sold twice since then.

Yes. I was just pointing out that pretty much nobody had the ability to buy the Red Death the first time it was sold.
