Scenario 1 doesn't really apply to Destiny because it's not like you can just sit in the tower and a gjallarhorn randomly appears in your inventory. You have to be doing an activity which gives you a chance to earn that weapon.

good point. my point is nobody ever "earns" something more than another, but I can see where you would think that

Haha yeah, I see both sides and I'm just kind of in the middle. I think almost everything we do to get our stuff should be considered earning.
