It doesn't work like that. It takes the amount you would get from a precision shot and splits it partially for aoe. 67% stays precision and 33% splash. You don't lose damage.

Watch YouTube videos or do it yourself. And wen fighting vex and cabal, it actually adds damage, some weird bug with ER and those types of enemies.

According to destinygamewikis explosive rounds page, under tips, exp rnds are confirmed to deal less single target damage.
-
Did you not -blam!-ing watch the YouTube video I attached or even -blam!-ing try it yourself? You are just arguing for the sake of arguing now. Go back under your bridge troll.

Beep beep beep! Troll alert. Sorry but destiny wiki is right, and it states that vex receive special damage from explosive rounds. Sorry for ur misinformation buddy.
-
It's not misinformation when I see it with my own eyes and do simple addition. Have you actually tested it yourself? You know a Wikipedia page isn't a proper reference source right? Just watch the -blam!-ing YouTube video and go do it yourself before you speak again. Ffs some people are stupid.

Edited by gcw0068: 3/13/2015 1:52:19 AMExplosive rounds ruin perks such as outlaw and others that only proc on precision hits. Basically, explosive rounds are better for mobs and people who are unable to consistently land headshots. If your enemy is Vex or Cabal, they will provide a damage increase. That being said, here is an updated Reddit post. The old version was apparently incorrect: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2sadia/sga_explosive_rounds_and_crit_multipliers_with/ So hopefully that clears stuff up for everyone
