It seems here on B.net many seem to like posting on topics that they feel are unjust portrayal of a point of view. Topics that upset people and they feel the need to respond.
So thoughtful topics that are good in nature will not get the same amount of traffic ? Why is this if any of you can explain this ? Are people more in tuned with things they feel are Negative in nature thus have to say something ?
Can Thoughtful Discussion Happen ? Will it turn into Trolling ? How do people feel about having these kinds of conversations ?
All i can say i posted many different topics. Those that showed a negative light on things seems to get way more responses than me having a civil discussion. It that due to peoples Narcissistic needs or is it something else ? I guess every one has to be right and no one can have a better opinion.
The problem is are we running the Asylum or are others ?

A bit anecdotal, but my social experiments have been pretty popular in the past, and some of the better users around here can attest to thoughtful topics and posts that gain popularity, Longface, Recon, DTL, a couple members in TFL, even Engra and many others. Maybe your posts just suck.

Thoughtful discussion no longer exists, apparently, when someone holds a different view. So, I'll just leave these Thomas Jefferson quotes:
...error of opinion may be tolerated, when reason is left free to combat it.

...every difference of opinion, is not a difference of principle.
And, my personal favorite:
...like religious differences, a difference in politics should never be permitted to enter into social intercourse, or to disturb its friendships, its charities or justice.
I think the last one, in particular, is one we should take to heart. Discussion of differing opinions doesn't have to be uncivilized. You can have reasonable discussion without demeaning the other person. It's perfectly fine to explain your views to another person. It's okay to disagree with them. However, you should still be civil about it, and avoid letting a disagreement damage any future conversations. Flaming at someone is not going to change their view, but rather, make you look like an idiot. Just my two cents.

HELLO? Ok no sign of crunchy anywhere... >_> <_<

It seems that way, unfortunately. I guess people would rather be angry than think critically.

It's easier to have an emotional response than an intellectual response.

I post on anything that interests me honestly, or anything in which I can offer advice or an insightful opinion. Lately I've been muting a lot of users who just want to start shit though. Idc to read that crap.
