Hawkmoon is better than Thorn in which way? If you think that the Thorn is better in both ways, leave a comment as to why.

I want to believe Hawkmoon is better because I've got it and haven't got the other one. But the truth is I get owned in PvP with thorn uers all the time, an even lose out to TLW quite often. This because more often than not, gun fights occur within close to mid-range. Hawkmoon may have a long range(like a soft scout rifle) but have you ever tried landing critical hits from that far without a scope? It nearly impossible. The only chance you've got is with Gunslingers trance and Chain of Woe (hunter). Even in PVE Thorn I a beast and is not far behind Hawkmoon at all. I think Hawkmoon requires a very high level of skill to wield and unless you've got that skill it can't be better than Thorn

Edited by AKS1: 3/15/2015 2:36:27 AMThe problem with the "consistent damage" on paper argument used to claim Thorn is clearly better is that eventually you'll need to reload, and you'll be doing that sooner and more frequently with Thorn given Hawkmoon's Field Scout-sized 13-round cylinder. You're not doing "consistent damage" unless it's a bit of DoT during those more frequent reloads. If only PvP consisted of trading shot for shot 1-on-1 this would be a great argument, but real world play isn't quite like that. They are in fact very close. My personal preference is for Hawkmoon because it has the potential to kill more opponents in 6v6 games because the cylinder is notably larger, but I personally rate those 2 hand cannons as #1 and #2 primary weapons for PvP, so it's not like you could go wrong with either.

I think that Hawkmoon and Thorn are about the same in PVP because Thorn has lingering damage, while Hawkmoon has three extra damage bullets and a lot of range. In PVE, I think Hawkmoon is better because of its range and more powerful three shots, along with a 13 magazine, and a possible perk for SUPER FAST RELOAD!

Thorn is consistent in kills over TLW and Hawkmoon. I doubt in PvE this makes little difference but for PvP its a choice between rolling the lucky hits with Hawkmoon or being consistent with Thorn. (sidenote: people say Thorn is cheap because Mark of the Devourer dot.....but they are the same people who say Hawkmoon is divine because 3/13 bullets can OHKO. Funfact: they are equally as cheap with this logic)
