The Blade Which Devours
~ present ~
Erik turned. This place, this mission, this life as a guardian has brought him nothing but pain; none as bad as what happened hours ago. He ran. He ran away from the ghost at his feet, the rocks he once hid behind, the court which brought the most terrible of things into his life. He ran from his memories.
~ hours ago ~
He touched down into the Court, it was chaotic, the hive were killing hive. They barely even noticed an actual enemy between them. He aimed his rifle and shot at the acolytes, the one carrying the sword came forth, he shot it's head into oblivion.
Erik picked up the sword and began to use it on the hive, swing after swing they fell. A wizard appeared up upon the cliff, what was it doing there? Why had it just been watching? Why hadn't it joined the fight? It's head would be Erik's.
He jumped back up to the cliff, thrall and acolytes following, and chased after the wizard. It went left, but he stayed going straight, it was the right choice. The hive that followed were quickly decimated by the wizard. She came out of a tunnel to the left of him and kept moving, he followed.
Hanne-16 was worried, Asger could stand now but Erik hasn't returned. She began to hear noises coming from all around her, were the hive coming? She didn't know for sure, but she expected they were. She never expected Erik led the hive however; she never expected he was ravenous and blood thirsty, affected by the jest in ways that could never be understood by someone who didn't experience it first hand.
The wizard was gone now, it knew the caves and escaped Erik, but more hive had come and now follow him. He kept running, slashing at the hive who got close, enjoying the dust of them falling on his armor. He grew closer to Hanne-16 and Asger, but he didn't know them anymore, they were just vessels. They were just an obstacle to beat.
"Erik! We have to go, the hive are coming!" Hanne-16 stopped when she saw Erik more clearly.
He wasn't himself, he was different somehow. Just his presence felt different, she turned and ran leaving Asger behind.
"Hanne-16, where are you going!?" Asger limped after her, but quickly felt the bite of a blade dig through his armour and his neck.
Erik continued after Hanne-16, she darted down a side tunnel and quickly got lost. The hive had no interest in the corpse of Asger, it lie there motionless bleeding out, his light devoured by the sword in Erik's hands.
Hanne-16 made the wrong choice in which tunnel to go down next, if she had chosen the other tunnel things may be different, but she chose the one that led to a dead end. Not that she would make it that far.
Erik pursued after her, making the distance between them shorter and shorter. She fell and tumbled to the ground, she rolled over looking at Erik pleadingly. She lifted her hand to him begging him not to do anything.
With a swipe of his sword her hand came off. She cried out in pain, it echoed through the caves, and felt herself start to drift into shock. Erik raised the sword high above her and swung it down into her. Instantly she was dead, and her light stolen from her.
Erik kept moving, he would fight the rest of the hive off here. He turned to fight, hive acolyte and thrall fall at his feet turning to dust all around him. He heard a noise, he took out his ghost to light up the tunnel, a flash of arc energy shot at him. His ghost explodes at his temple and knocks him unconscious.
