So, I don't particularly believe that golden gun is very overpowered in pvp, in fact I think it might be the most balanced of the supers (the solar warlock one might need a buff to movement speed I dunno, but that's another story), but I do think it sucks in pve unless you wanna take out thrall or other low tier enemies.
Anyway, the change I propose would mean a slight nerf in pvp, depending upon how you look at it and a buff in pve. So what if golden gun required a charge and the charge time is proportional to damage inflicted. So there would be a "sweet spot" in crucible, I'd make it fairly short only half a second or so, to kill a guardian, with peak damage being reached after a few seconds. I dont think the gun should auto fire once fully charged like a fusion rifle, but rather hold it like a plasma pistol. Since the golden gun timer itself is your hurry up. This would mean a full charge could deal respectable damage on pve enemies also.
I just pulled these figures out of my ass here, but I think the overall idea isn't a bad one and would address most complaints about golden gun that people have.

Edited by DKKWraith: 3/11/2015 9:38:22 PMJust add 1.5x multi for Headshots. Edit: golden gun should not charge, you'd call that golden shower.

Edited by i3thDisciple: 3/12/2015 7:04:31 AMGolden gun, like so the other abilities is fine for what it is to be used for... GENERATING ORBS OF LIGHT... none of the supers are to take down bosses... they are to take out mob and generate light for your team to pick up... in order to get light you must make light.... PVP is a different ball game... not my game...

Pve Golden Gun is a Support player with the helm you finish off yellow mobs and make your 8 orbs. Perk combustion on groups Perk pen dmg on weaker enemies I like the way it works and like the play style. Now a charge up would be cool for pve but pvp should just stay the way it is. I'd like to see critical dmg on GG first.

I am using a Hunter and I can say that the Golden Gun in PvP is overpowered. Use cobustion and the Symbiote, you get four shots per Golden Gun use. Each kill makes enemies explode and tht explosion can kill additional people in Crucible. You can kill three people with one shot. A simple bonus to damage in PvE would suffice. Bungie needs to separate the "improvements" they do between those in PvE and those in PvP, which I guess is extremely hard for them.

Don't you think they should also nerf the nova bomb? My brother killed the entire team in one super...
-
The people that complain about the golden gun are the same people with One hit kill melee Shield producing melee Grenades that explode 5 times People with Bubbles that blind you People who can have grenades that chase you around the map People who can self revive and win a rumble game even after losing So yes, the Golden Gun is designed to kill people in that list up there, and yes, they aren't going to like it.
-
I've noticed in PvE that my Ice Breaker does more damage per hit than Golden Gun, making Ice Breaker more of a super than the super.
-
I fully expected another dumbass idea... But this is actually brilliant.
-
It needs a buff in PvE like all the other supers in PvE. I agree with some of these guys that guns should not outperform supers, its kind of a step backwards really.

Edited by Samatas: 3/10/2015 2:22:39 PMYou can hear them pop their super, if you don't avoid them or suprise them and kill them before they do it's your damn fault. It's always the same thread about hunters being op every day and it's getting annoying. I can post 5 things about the other classes that are just as powerful but it's always the hunter that's op, I case anyone thinks I play as a hunter only I have all 3 classes.
-
So the other classes will then have time to hit their panic super? No thanks. If someone pulls their golden gun and you hang around to cop it, too bad.
-
GG is pretty fuking awesome for pve probably the best super to have in Vog during most fight... Using your GG as the oracle spawn before Templar fight help so much it`s either minus 4 oracles or minus 1-3 oracles and a few hob, using GG as the Templar shield goes down will help you take down those individual shields that spawn around player... Just these two utilities (which are combined during atheon fight) make it one of the best super for pve and there is plenty more great usage for it. In my opinion the best logical fix or buff to make it a better damage dealer in pve without affecting it in pvp would be to allow crit shot with GG. Since 1 body shot is enought to kill a guardians it would not really change much in pvp except for the pleasure to see yellow numbers on your screen and in pve it would make it a great dps super but you have to aim more carefully.
-
Edited by boff: 3/9/2015 3:19:18 PMso instead of it being a handcanon, it would be a fusion rifle, a golden fusion rifle, and by slight nerf for pvp, its more a super destroying nerf for pvp, you just added 0.5 to the ttk, no thanks

I have only recently created a hunter and already think that the golden gun is useless in the pve world however in pvp it is fine.
-
Golden gun is fine in pvp. yes it's a one hit kill, but so is every other super short of ward of dawn and radiance (and radiance actually IS a one hit kill for every fusion grenade you throw). In PvE, though, golden gun is the absolute worst super in the game. It does less damage than most primaries, and less damage than all secondaries. I can hit (not crit, HIT) most enemies for more damage with my scout rifle than I can with golden gun at moderate range, and my icebreaker's precision hits deal 3-4 times more damage than each golden gun shot. No super should be outperformed by basic weapons fire in any situation.
-
Just give GG the ability to deal crit damage. Wouldn´t change a thing in PVP, and it would make it more viable in PVE,
-
Im sorry but the hunter only needs a buff in pve, supers do not need to be changed in pvp, they are supers for a reason

Edited by Zoey: 3/9/2015 5:33:28 AMNope, if I react and point this at someone and pull the trigger, I want them dead instantly like it's supposed to be, not wait half a second and get blown in the face with a shotgun while in turn losing my entire super.
