Report: How It Do?

I'm a little confused on how reporting works now. Like, is 'Hide' the new 'Report'? Is that how we let mods know if something is against the rules? Would that mean that the 'Dislike' button is just to filter out poor threads? I'm just super curious about this and would like some sort of clarification. Maybe I'm just too used to a button that says 'Report'.

At first I was confused too and Recon was nice enough to explain it. The hide and mute button work as a report button. With this update comes an entirely new set of rules. Most of the profanity filter is gone too. Lots of users were banned permanently for things that simply aren't against the rules anymore. With the Hide/Mute buttons feeding both your Personal Ignore List as well as the reporting queue, and with the moderators having a very restricted list of things they are responsible for, we felt it best to give everybody a fresh start. So far, it seems to be working well.

Posted by: Recon Number 54 Members can hide/mute to their heart's content. It will immediately alter their personal Bungie.Net experience based on their actions. The moderator is a QA check that occurs after the collective hides/mutes coalesce into a report by meeting a threshold (unknown what that is and if I were a betting man, I would imagine that it is a calculated variable based on the veracity/trust/history of the accounts who are hiding/muting). If the report is given an approval by the QA step, then the outcome is automated. I am learning more about it as it works, but if you were worried about "moderator bias/errors" or "crowdsource reporting abuse" then I would say that the design takes those potential risks into account. It is just another piece of data we can use to help you find content you want. If you want to report rule breaking, use the Hide (for content) or Mute (for users). Pick a reason (or don't). Things we care about will go to the moderators, and they'll verify it, and then the system will set punishments. Almost all of the gray area is gone, no more arbitrary bans.
