...Who thought I was English, because I was speaking German.
Lemme explain.
A friend and I were playing AVP (yeah, surprisingly it isn't that hard to find a non-ranked game and people still play it) and we decided to go into gamechat and mess with people by saying random German phrases from the little German we both know.
Pretty soon, speaking very slowly and deliberately, the boy asked "are you English?" Because we "talked stupid." This was repeated the entire time we played matches with him, until finally another player (impersonating Schwarzenegger) explained that we were speaking German, in German accents.
He would have been at least 12, yet seemed to think that the English speak an entirely different language?
And no, we aren't English and neither was he.
For discussion value, what do you think of your education system?
Met any silly uneducated children online?

I'll just leave this here.

I think the kid was asking if you could speak English, rather than thinking English people speak German...

i met a guy who thought that because i was part French i should have a French accent and because i didn't i was therefore lying. some people are just nuts.

I've had my English complimented before over live. Which was a nice, if surprising turn in a conversation over a game of Halo. I then realized that because I had mentioned I was Scottish, he had assumed that English wasn't my first language. All of my facepalms.

Most europeans also know another language. I don't know if the kid knew that though, but he easily could have said, "do you speak english"(maybe that's what he meant).

He probably only knows Canadian.
