Well?
Who's better and why?
I like the Stormcloaks better, IMO.

Disregarding the emotional ties to religion driving the war, if you look at it from strategic standpoint: Most individuals on both sides want to return to talos worship. Both sides consider the Thalmor their ultimate enemy. From readings and accounts found in-game, the Empire didn't actually enforce the talos ban until Ulfric started the war. The Empire knows a second war with the Thalmor will come soon, and want to be at full strength when that time comes. The Stormcloaks want to fracture the empire, making it weaker and open to invasion, all over a percieved betrayal. I simply can't imagine a logical situation where you'd want to go with the stormcloaks. Skyrim does not have the same natural defenses or organized forces that hammerfell does, and warring with the empire will only make things easier for the Dominion.

Stormcloaks unless you're a fan of being the bad guy in games. People always go 'oh Stormcloaks are so racist!' ... No. No, that's only what you'd think if you don't actually know the issue. Stormcloaks distrust other races because the Elves slaughtered their people and put them under their thumb for many years. Other races have been used as spies for these Elves, which is why the Stormcloaks generally cannot trust these races. I'd hate other people too if they put their effort towards controlling me and killing my loved ones. HOWEVER. The Stormcloaks DO tolerate these races. If you go to any Imperial city, you know what you'll find? REAL racism and discrimination. Not allowing certain races in the cities. Executing people that have differing opinions. You know there are only two Khajiit in cities in Skyrim, and both are living, with jobs, in Stormcloak controlled cities. Riften and Winterhold. Stormcloaks also tolerate those with differing opinions, even if they don't like it. What do you find in Imperial cities? People being jailed or executed for their beliefs. How the hell is that just? How can any right minded, good person support that? Then you get the 'oh Ulfric just wants power' people. ... That's ridiculous. Ulfric was imprisoned by the Elves. When he got out the Elves did want him to rebel, it is true. However, it is ridiculous to state that just because the elves wanted it it means his cause is not just. Ulfric wants freedom for his people, and freedom for religion. He saved a city on the promise of giving them free religion. He didn't get power out of that- he got freedom. It was only after the Empire lied to him and betrayed him that he realized he had to be in control, as a rallying point, or else the Empire would forever get away with their travesties.

Both have alot of flaws but I sided with the Imperials.
-
I did Imperials on my first character, gonna do Stormcloaks on the second
-
Well I don't like Stormcloaks. So death to everything!
-
I didn't like the Stormcloaks bigoted views, so I went with the Imperials.
-
I'm with everyone else. I'm on the Imperials' side.
-
Stormcloaks = racists. Death to the stormcloaks.
-
Neither. Slaughter both of 'em.
-
Love when the guards say "Stormcloak rebels" but I have always picked the Imperial Legion . The Stormcloaks are lazy minded. They don't think, just do. I like it when we at least have some brains on our side.
-
Hard to say really. On the one hand, Stormcloaks are an entitled whiny bunch who can't accept that land belongs to those who rule it, not whoever "was there first." On the other hand, the Imperials tried to behead me. The only correct answer is to kill both camps, or side with the Stormcloaks for revenge.
-
DEATH TO THE STORMCLOAKS!
-
I'm a rebellish woman, but I bloody hate the stormcloaks. Bitching about 'true nords' while a Breton Dragonborn has to clean their shit up.
-
Tough decision. I end up slaughtering both camps.
-
There really is no difference in the way the two sides play out in game. Story-wise I prefer the Imperials.
-
I was forced to join the Empire to continue the main story, but at least they're not genocidal racists.
-
Better: Imperial Legion, more soldiers, better trained and they have magic users were the Storms don't care for it..silly Nords. Why: For one, the emperor isn't a Thalmor spy who will betray everyone.
-
United people are stronger people. Down with the Stormcloaks. Down with the Thalmor.
-
Imperials! The rightful owners of Skyrim.
-
I usually prefer imperials, but I rather playing through as the Stormcloaks.

Edited by MendicantBill : 1/12/2013 7:01:47 PMThe imperials. Ulfric is an opportunistic hate monger who wants to take advantage of Skyrim's civil unrest to seize power. He is very similar to Hitler pre Reich if you break it down. The Empire isn't perfect, but the do what they can to ensure that Tamriel stays safe and united.

Depends on the character I'm playing, but typically I prefer the Imperials. The Stormcloaks are a bit too nativist for me.
