I feel as though the drop-rate of Ascendant Materials from legendary engrams is FAR too high.

Noobs need the materials, but let someone run you through Crota's End to get better gear.
-
No I don't think they should. It should be: Get a legendary item, if it's good we keep it and we get to play around with, *gasp*, something new and different. If crap we break it down and THEN get the materials.

not only no but -blam!-kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, ascendant materials from a purple engram sucks. I would rather have the choice of keeping the weapon/gear or dismantling it myself. I would rather see materials drop from blue engrams then purple. At least then it is a surprise vs. a disappointment. From another perspective though, bringing up a fresh guardian you need all the ascendant materials you can get your hands on. A full set of vanguard gear is going to need 72 shards. I think even then i would rather get gear/guns from purples and a light sprinkling of mat. From blues with a similar drop rate as that of the coins/motes. Maybe bungie will consider changing that. Probably not but, meh be. The real kick in the junk is some of the rewards from the nightfall. They said they fixed the amount of materials dropped but when you see that one purple engram that you know will be 2 shards/energy, did they really fix that?

9 times out of 10 I dismantle it anyway. But it's always good when you get that one legendary with an epic perk roll.
-
I'd say no, I want to dismantle it myself if it's sh*t.

Lol voted yes

This thread, again? (Heaves a weary sigh...) OK, you can fix it so that legendary engrams drop ONLY legendary items. That means no chance for an Exotic, though. You can't have the awesome without the sucky.
-
I think they should drop either weapons or armour very time, and then we can decide if we want to keep or dismantle them. But alas it won't happen.

50% of my legendary engrams have given me ascendant mats. Either drastically lower the drop rate or remove them from the engram loot pool completly.
