So this guy at my high school just changed the channel on this old CRT TV with this app on an iPhone. I'm confused because I thought remotes worked by emitting infrared light. So how can an iPhone app change the channel on an old TV? Can an iPhone emit infrared light? Is there something also at play here? Please, any explanations? EDIT: nevermind, he had an android which had a built-in infrared emitter.
