Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it!
What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family?
Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite
Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro.
Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts.
Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

I pretty much do the same as you. As long as I take care of all the kids and honey do's, as well as the occasional extra mile (watch one of her shows) then I have a happy home and get to game.
-
In need of dire revision. I haven't been able to play at all recently. Between being a ferry for my loved one and having a strict curfew and looking for a career opportunity I haven't got much done recently.
-
Up at 4am to play before work and family time after work

Join Dads of Destiny ! You are not alone!

Check out the Dads of Destiny group. Pretty cool group of guys and a great weekly podcast too.
-
I play when the significant other is asleep and my 8 month old is out cold. He seems to have the innate ability to sense when I'm on the Crota encounter and start demanding a bottle. Ah well, that's life/responsibility for you.
-
Yeah, i'm pretty much in the same boat. Wish I had more time to play though,
-
Yeah I was hardcore but had to cut back...#familyfirst.
-
this all sounds too familiar! every night, kid goes to bed, girl falls asleep im on late, wake up early! sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the morning and i get the craziest gorgons death gaze ever!
-
I pretty much only play after the wife and kids are in bed. I work third shift so the day before I go back to work I'm up most of the night anyway.
-
Get home, spend time with family, put kids to bed, spend time with wife til she's winding down, hop on and DOWN THAT CROTE CROTE!
-
I am starting to play once my 6 year old son and wife go to bed. Usually on around 9:30pm and try to keep to one hour. On the weekends I play when I can. Since I don't raid I keep to Daily/Weekly and ROC Strike with bounties sprinkled in (probably the same as the rest of you). When it comes to IB I try to schedule a rank increase each day from Friday to Monday. IB or Exotic Bounty is the only time I really do Crucible. Props to you Destiny Dads with a newborn or have more than one kid.

Yup. Pretty much the same story for me. Except I draw the line when it's freakin' general hospital. I just can't stand that ancient, recycled soap opera! GH causes me to instantly run to the Xbox...
-
Yep. Unfortunately my S/O has the haywire retail schedule and we have a 5 year old, so I can't really have a set night to play because S/O will end up making plans for that day when she's off or has a weird shift. Also a lot of the reason why I can't consistently raid (I've finished VOG once with several attempts, and attempted Crota once with no success). On the nights where's she up at the crack of dawn the next day though, I usually get on after the kiddo gets to bed at 9, and stay up until about 1 AM. If only my friends were still on too...

My wife works at night while I work during the day. I usually have to feed the three kids and prep dinner for when my wife will get home before I can get some play time. That being said, I also wake up very early (4:00 AM) so I can get even more playtime. When my wife is home, I usually only get to play while she is either sleeping or when she has work from home to do. Luckily she is a night owl and sleeps very late into the day.
-
Yeah feed the kids, shower then read to them and then bed time. Roughly finish that by about 8pm then I can do whatever I want. It's rough but it is what it is.
-
Wife (who plays but is annoyed with the game atm) 3 daughters, one just turned 13, one 7 going on 8, & the youngest is 3 months old today. Be fore our youngest I was able to log in more often, but late nights & early mornings have taken their toll. There's never enough time for everything. I haven't even been to PvE in weeks. just PvP for now.
-
I'm in the same position. I play destiny through my vita whilst watching crap TV with the wife and family. Just so I can get the patrol bounties out of the way. Then say up late while everyone sleeps.
-
Pretty much the exact same. I do carve out certain nights that I don't play at all to give her full attention, but I have every Tuesday (Nightfalls & Weeklies), Thursday & Friday (Raids), and she is great about it.
-
i play at night when the wife and kids are asleep. before we had kids i was a hardcore WoW raider. she -blam!-ing hated it. no chance in hell shell let me raid in this game lol.
-
im in the same exact boat..
-
I was in that boat till I bought the wife her own copy of destiny. We're in a little clan now with another married couple we've know for years. They live almost 200 miles from us now so this for us is a great way to stay in touch and have a great laugh while playing.
-
Play as much as humanly possible until she threatens to leave me. At which point i begrudgingly get off my game, go buy pizza and wine and call it an evening of Netflix. #FaithRestored Rinse and repeat. Ad infinitum.
-
The struggle is real.
-
I thought this thread was about the Nicolas Cage movie lol.
-
This my exact situation. It can be pretty tough sitting through celebrity reality garbage for an hour just to get 1-2 hours of Destiny.
