The FAMILY MAN struggle
Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it!
What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family?
Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite

Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts.

My little girl go's to bed at 19:00 I bought my wife a tablet so she can watch Netflix and I can use the tv. So around 19:15/30 it's game time and my wife is watching a series on Netflix. Both on the couch. Pretty nice! I play till 21:00/30 because I have to get up at 03:00 everyday (trucker). And when I have a day off I play more hours.

2 RepliesI am the wife so i make sure the kids are fed and comfortable (and occupied) before i start. As for the husband, we watch tv together so he is cool with it too. I try to stay away if he is home so he doesn't feel left out

Somehow I read this as you are having trouble balancing a wife and girlfriend. Not such a great family man. Then I went back and read more carefully and it all made sense. I need to rethink my brain

Have a wife. No kids yet. She puts up with Destiny but doesn't understand it. Which is fine. Also work 9 days on, 5 off. So on my 5 off I wake up at 4am and play until 10am. Which is quite a bit of play time. Then it doesn't interfere with anything but my sleep. Haha. Life is a balancing act, and learning how to recognize the important things versus the things you want to do at the time, is probably one of the hardest things to do.

I try to get my homework done in between classes at the college so I don't have anything to do when I get home. Plus, no classes on Fridays = plenty of play time.

Wife, two kids, own my own professional business. Wife owns her own, better, professional business. I only play after the kids are asleep and the wife is tired and doesn't want to watch tv. Also on Fridays when I take the day off work to spend with the baby.

Am a single Dad, my son is 9 almost 10, we both play its kinda cool having a home grown 2/3 fire team! LOL.

15 RepliesWife and I are on two different schedules...her first shift and I am on nights so not too much conflict there, however I have a 4 yr old who also is on daddy's schedule...that tends to be fun when he wants his sandwhich etc during raids but have to love him. When momma comes home he tells her all about the raids including getting strange coins and Crota. I do believe I have another gamer in the making!

Lots (over 40) of us are active every night, most heavily between 8pm and 2am pacific time, with regularly scheduled raids and very new member friendly. If that's your thing, come check it out and join the groupMe links to be aware of the activities each night ... or to share in the general family chat/bs :) This is a dads of destiny subclan that's super active through the use of the groupme app.

My gf knows when I get home on Tuesdays after I visit a minute I'm going to raid for awhile then we'll watch a movie or something together. She's got no issues with it at all.

I'm these things except gf, not wife. I'm now even in a different time zone (-8) to my usual lot. So it's a struggle to get stuff done when your usual crew are in bed when you get home from work, and waking up when you go to bed.

School is the same way. Barely get any sleep and get stuck doing homework and studying all of the damn time. I usually just stay up till 2-3am on Friday nights and Saturday nights.

We have the exact same schedule. I get on from 10 to midnight, that way the kids are asleep a few hrs and my wife has gone to bed.
