Any other family peeps out there have to balance Destiny with work, kids and a wife/girlfriend? My wife puts up with Destiny but it's mostly because I don't play till kids are tucked in and read to and I try and watch a show of my wife's choosing before jumping on. Stay on late get up early... Worth it!
What is everyone's ritual for getting to Destiny without getting in trouble with the family?
Edit: I love that I'm not alone in this. I can't believe how many people have the identical schedule as mine! Must be why I always find good randoms when I'm on, we are all family men. #destinydadsunite
Edit: We got our first Toxic Troll response. So I would like to give the award for biggest buzzkill to SEANY, You earned it bro.
Edit: WOW GUYS AND GALS!!! I woke up to hundreds more comments and 99% of them are positive! It's amazing to see so many good family peeps finding a healthy balance between gaming, work and family. You people are amazing and I'm not sure I've smiled so much reading these posts.
Edit: over 1000 replies!!!! Nice to see so many awesome people out there and hardly any trolls! Stay real guardians.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Kids to bed, watch a program or two with my wife then some Destiny. Once a week I also get an entire evening for Destiny, as my wife watches the programs I don't like on that night. Sometimes it's a pain, but it mostly works out ok. It's all about balance.

Edited by LordVivec: 3/4/2015 12:02:03 PMIf I can usher my wife to bed I usually get to play a little on Tuesdays for the after reset but most of the time I have to schedule around my 2 year old waking up in the middle of the night. If he wakes up and I get him back down I stay up for a little bit. Family might see me on it for 20 mins in a week (Saturday morning usually) .

Fight the good fight lol

I get home, bath, read to and put my kids to sleep. Then do the dishes and generally tidy up a bit. The missus has been at home in the afternoon after starting work at 8am so she can leave early to pick them up. Kids in the arvo after school / childcare are....... Temperamental Once house looks less like a bomb hit it I jump on every second night. Started as every night but that started to cause some strain and threats were made to the destiny disc. Works ok. I play 4 nights a week 5 of im lucky.

Why would anyone troll this? What a dick...I'm in the same boat dude. Got the little one sat next to me now while I watch Henry hugglemonster... Again. Haha

My girlfriend n I have worked out set days where I am allowed to play. I've always been a gamer and sometimes I get a little carried away n end up playing every night. I don't think a lot of our partners realise how much playing games are an escape or way to relax. Life's hard sometimes and you need to pretend your a space wizard now n again. P.s. SEANY's a dick and I doubt he actually has a family.

My life in a nutshell indeed. Plus waking up early in the weekends to get some games done.

Hehe first baby due any day now, and I try and squeeze every bit I can.... The struggle is so real
-
Oh thank god I'm not alone!! Just had a bust up with my other half over this literally this morning. It seems if they aren't interested in something you aren't allowed to be
-
Haha this sounds like me get family duties out the way them game time which usually finishes late o'clock.
-
Single dad with 3 girls here bro, I get my game time often enough but I gotta plan it all around their routines and housekeeping. That's why I joined the dads clan, like minded dudes with the same situation

Congrats man Best thing that can ever happen to someone

If I wrote a post it would be exactly like this. Family always first however I'm always thinking about my next fix.

Can I draw your attention to a video on youtube..i forget the vid, and can't be bothered to find it, but it's this in a nutshell. Mixed race British guy as a Salaryman in Tokyo, wakes up at about 07:30 talks about eating Granola, gets to work at 9am, gets home between 11:45pm-1am, 15 mins exercise, 15 mins to prepare his next day meal, has a shower, goes to bed...repeats this for a week in the video, showing him progressing from happy to depressed. So yeah, I am super lucky, as I can game as much as I want to, all day, as I work from home. Y'all with a family, you get a couple of hours to yourself a day roughly. Salaryman...."Destiny, whats that? PS Vita? Ohhh, you mean like a Gameboy, I still have mine, did they update it, not had time to check"

Me and my girlfriend play together every night its nice no issues lol

Wow I thought I was alone. I have a 3 year old, so I do the same one he's in bed watch a show of my wife's choosing then when she falls asleep it's off to destiny. The only prob is I wake up at 530 for work and I end up going to bed at 1 sometimes 2. This game is burning me out. I also have another one in the oven due end of July so it looks like I won't be able to play h.o.w.

The struggle is always real at my house too
-
The balancing act can be tough. It helps to remember this game is not a race! For me I also have to wait for the console is free since my wife and daughter are also game players! :-)
-
Same situation. Most guys in my clan are the same. Full time jobs and families. Destiny is a good way to relax and ive made a ton of online friends through it. Been a great social experience.

+1 If I ever want to play on a day off I blitz the whole house and fetch kids from school etc. She would let me play more but Id feel to much guilt
-
Are you me?

I always make sure the wife is okay with me being on Destiny for a couple of hours after that kids go bed (that's not pussywhipped, it's called respect.lol). 99.9 percent of the time she is, and at least half that time we'll share the controller for Crucible. She puts me to shame usually. Trying to get my daughter into it so she can join me in a fireteam on her 360. Getting it for my son on PS4 soon. So I'm working on making Destiny a family activity. In response to Seany, us dads aren't whinging. It's actually a healthy thing for an individual parent to have a bit of 'Me' time each day. Being a dad is hard work at times, and as my wife puts it, She loves the fact that I would rather stay at home on Destiny with her and the kids than be out boozing it up at the pub.

I pretty much have a similar set-up to yourself. I have 3 kids (7,5 and 1) I work from 7am till 7am at night. I come home home put children to bed, aid or make dinner with the wife. Watch tv of her choice usually in bed, wait till she falls over usually 1030 or so then i game till 1/2am. Rince and repeat where I can. I do have 2days per week where I do not xbox one day at the weekend kids get morning wife has me in the evening and another day through the week where I do not vanish in the middle of the night. I feel ur pain brutha.
-
Kinda like yours. I often play when I get back late from fencing as a way to unwind, or at weekends when football is on at night. My little boy does enjoy watching me play Destiny, however I avoid the Hive (might scare him to much) and tend to not play it to long.

Same here bro.
