Introduction:
Due to the lack of a raid matching system, I tend to run a lot of strikes. And this has allowed my imagination to toy with creating one of my own. I tried to keep my idea limited to what I have seen possible in game. Otherwise I would have made it much more complex and detailed with more ships in the convoy.
Anyways enjoy!
Going Cabal-listic
Setting:
The strike takes place in the skies of Mars. Three Cabal dropships are flying in a descending formation, one after the other so they give the appearance of a staircase in the sky. Below them is a thick blanket of cloud cover (so you can avoid creating detailed land graphics) and above them is the night sky. (And in order to give the illusion of forward momentum, use the same mist like clouds in the cut scenes used when a Guardian's ship lands on Earth and have the mist randomly move towards and through the Guardians.)
**For the ease of describing things, I designate the following:
Cabal dropship One - The ship the Guardians start atop.
Cabal dropship Two - The ship above and infront of Cabal dropship One.
Cabal dropship Three- The ship above and infront of Cabal dropship Two.
The Start:
"Guardian. This is a priority one transmission. Satellites are currently tracking a convoy of Cabal dropships bringing in an unknown number of troop reinforcements. If these troops make landfall, it will undoubtedly lead to a large Cabal offensive. You must bring down these ships, Guardian."
Strike team begins atop Cabal dropship One. The bow of the ship is marked by a mission icon. A player must interact with the access panel of the dropship with their ghost to begin the hack of the autopilot to cause the ship to crash.
This action alerts the Cabal to the presence of the Guardians and triggers Stage One.
Stage One:
Stage One Wave One:
Various Cabal units begin flying up from both starboard and port sides of Cabal dropship One attacking the Guardians.
The elimination of all Stage One Wave One units triggers Stage One Wave Two.
Stage One Wave Two:
Cabal dropship Two begins unloading elite Cabal units to attack the Guardians. These units use their jet-packs to fly down onto the Guardians from above and in front. The death of half these elite troops triggers the spawn of 2 Cabal Colossus units, one on each side of Cabal dropship Two. They remain where they spawn and fire down upon the Guardians still atop Cabal dropship One. Before they do though, the ghost doing the hacking reports that he is attempting evasive maneuvers to assist the Guardians and Cabal dropship One begins to move laterally back and forth which only affords one Colossus at a time to get a full line of sight on Cabal dropship One.
The elimination of all Stage One Wave Two units triggers Stage Two.
Stage Two:
The ghost has gained control of Cabal dropship One's autopilot and is ready to scuttle it. Before it does so, it pilots Cabal dropship One up to the same level as Cabal dropship Two, which allows the Guardians to jump from Cabal dropship One to Cabal dropship Two.Once all Guardians have jumped over to Cabal dropship Two, Cabal dropship One's engines explode and it drops below the blanket of clouds and a bright light causes the clouds to glow as Cabal dropship One explodes out of sight.
The destruction of Cabal dropship One triggers Stage Two Wave One.
Stage Two Wave One:
The ghost alerts the Guardians of incoming Vex, they must have picked up the explosion of Cabal dropship One. The top of Cabal dropship Two is suddenly enveloped with the black cloud of Vex transporting in all around the Guardians.
The elimination of all Stage Two Wave One units triggers Stage Two Wave Two.
Stage Two Wave Two:
The bow of the ship is marked by a mission icon. A player must interact with the access panel of the dropship with their ghost to begin the hack of the autopilot to cause the ship to crash. This action alerts the Cabal to the presence of the Guardians.
This time dozens of Psion units come crawling up both sides of Cabal dropship Two to attack the Guardians. As the fight ensues, Cabal dropship Three maneuvers directly above Cabal dropship Two and Cabal units begin to rain down upon the Guardians from above.
The elimination of all Stage Two Wave Two units triggers Stage Three.
Stage Three:
The ghost has gained control of Cabal dropship Two's autopilot and is ready to scuttle it. Before it does so, it pilots Cabal dropship Two backwards and then up to the same level as Cabal dropship Three, which allows the Guardians to jump from Cabal dropship Two to Cabal dropship Three.
Once all Guardians have jumped over to Cabal dropship Three, Cabal dropship Two's engines explode. But before it drops to explode beneath the cloud cover like Cabal dropship One, the Strike Boss bursts from the top of Cabal dropship Two.
The appearance of the Strike Boss triggers the Final Fight.
Final Fight:
The Strike Boss is an oversized Cabal Phalanx. It has reserve fuel in its jump pack and stays airborne for the fight. It flies randomly clockwise and counter-clockwise in orbit around Cabal dropship Three, keeping its shield between itself and the Guardians. Like normal Phalanx units, this Strike Boss when stunned, will loosen his grip on his shield making himself an easier target. Unlike normal Phalanx units, the Strike Boss when stunned also rolls 90 degrees in the air, causing his shield to act as a ledge a Guardian can jump on for close quarters combat. Though once the Strike Boss becomes unstunned, it will right itself quickly and the Guardian will fall to its death if it does not return to the dropship.
During Final Fight, additional Cabal units fly up from both starboard and port sides of Cabal dropship Three. These spawns are triggered whenever the Strike Boss is stunned.
When the Strike Boss is defeated, it crashes into the bow of Cabal dropship Three. Cabal dropship Three begins to fall out of the sky. The ghost tells the Guardians to hold on, he has ships coming in to pick the Guardians up. Guardians must stay crouching as the dropship begins to list or they will fall off and die.
Strike ends with cut scene of Guardian's ships swooping in and teleporting the players off the dropship.
The End.
