My problem with this is it seems many people used autos because of their effectiveness, not because they enjoy using autos. That was a problem. I never liked auto rifles and despite pulse rifles being inferior they just fit my method of play. I was doomed from the get go in any battle but I didn't care because I prefer accuracy and bursting. This nerf was to level the weapons out. Ever wonder why so many people used Suros? It wasn't because they liked the gun. It was because it was OP. Apparently, due to the total buff, it was extremely OP. It only goes to show that the nerf was necessary and appropriate.

  • You've essentially never used ARS (33 total kills with ARs ) so rather than assuming why others use them, maybe start using them to see how garbage they are.

  • It is a causal effect. Not an assumption. In every game players gravitate towards the most powerful weapon.

AR ttk is slower than high impact pulse rifles at every range now. Is that 'balanced' to you?

  • Every range? I know for a fact at close to medium range I wouldn't stand a chance against an auto. By the time I'm going to pull for my second burst I'm already filled with rounds. The high ROF on autos should only be a benefit when combined with lower damage and close to medium range. Because that is the play style of an auto. Scout and pulse are for mid to long players. That is the play style for those two types. Hand cannons should be effective at close to mid, shotguns at close, fusion at close mid and snipers at mid long. The thing is, in crucible, people seem to want that one weapon that does everything well. That is what the Suros did. It had to be killed.

  • Suros was easy to use and decent power. That's why it's overused. Ever seen a thorn player do bad? Thats because they're unskilled. But meet a good thorn user and you will see why it's really used.

  • That's exactly my point! That is exactly why EVERYONE does not use thorn. It should take just as much skill to get kills with every weapon type.

  • Auto rifles will never make competetive play. Too easy to use and everyone would use them. They should be slightly weaker but not weak Enough to stop everyone using them. Way it should work is if someone using thorn misses their shot then an auto rifle hitting all shots should win. However even then autos are still strong enough. Comparing a gun like husk of the pit to hawkmoon shows how unbalanced some guns are. There is no good place to use husk of pit and little use for necrochasm. At least no land beyond has the POTENTIAL to 1 shot. Even if it is hard to use. Though it could use a pve buff. Auto rifles should be almost number 1 choice for close range but even then they are no match for hand cannons. In crucible weapons are used for Auto rifles. Easy to use but weak power. No chance for competitive play. Scout rifles. They are not bad with a skilled user but maps don't support them. Shouldn't be buffed or nerfed. They are good at what they do Hand cannons. Relatively easy to use and extremely strong. Pulse rifles. Decent at everything and pulse rifles like red death are strong. Want to pull off as many headshots as possible with recoil control. Also easy to use.

  • I still see autos all over crucible. I disagree with your take on HC though. Someone using a cannon is more likely to go for precision shots vs the auto user. So missing one shot when they are all crits shouldn't mean losing a close range duel. An auto rifle and pulse rifle user begins with upper body and allows the recoil of the weapon to creep up to crits. Otherwise they would be missing frequently.

  • Issue with hand cannon power mostly comes through the 3 exotic hand cannons. All 3 of them outclass any normal hand cannon by a huge amount. The regular hand cannons take more skill though. And they will be more precise. Never figured out how people snipe with last word though. Not an exotic i can use.

  • I actually enjoyed using autos. Personally, I thought scout rifles were more "effective", but I just preferred autos. Scouts can take enemies out crazy fast and deal a crap ton of dmg per shot. Autos, not so much. Granted, I'm talking PVE here I think that this nerf really hurt pve as well. Maybe these nerfs should have been pvp exclusive if they were dead set on listening to people complain about autos killing them.

  • I think Bungie is experimenting with different stats on weapons across different modes of the game. Notice the Shotgun buff in the patch. Perhaps they wanted to see how well it worked on a lesser archetype before buffing autos in PvE. Not sure. I just use whatever feels right:)

  • That makes sense, I actually kinda agree they're experimenting. I think what it was more about was to "make" players stop playing with autos so that they can open their minds to other weapons. Once we start using other weapons, they'll buff autos, but if they didn't nerf those autos in the first place with this patch, then not as many people would have opened their mind to other weapon types. I think it's a temporary thing, im hoping anyway.
