From the grimoire-
During the desperation of the twilight gap battle, the vanguards' most powerful guardians were summoned to defend the entrance to one of the last remaining civilian evacuation zones.
For 120 hours the golden age's most valiant guardians fought and died as they attempted to hold off the overwhelming siege. Recognizing the "grim reality" of this ill fated battle an order of hunters refused to fight and under the command of Cayde-6 disobeyed the vanguard's orders and retreated into the city of illuminatum where they aided the citizens in their exodus to the last city.
Upon the the successful evacuation of humanity's last large scale civilian population the hunters took up defensive positions. When the forces of darkness inevitably overcame the remaining guardians on the front lines and pushed through the twilight gap into the city they met these same hunters.
Here they halted the darkness and survived for six days waging an apache resistance against the legions of hive, vex, and fallen who'd come to collect Earth's greatest resource. In an attempt to buy the people time and to honor the sacrifice of their lost comrades these hunters fought without mercy, and without remorse. Seeking out their enemies and systematically destroying them.
On the seventh day the legions of darkness were forced to retreat. It's because of Cayde-6 and what would later become referred to as "the Wolfpack" that the grief and horror of the twilight gap wasn't the end of humanity.
That's why hunters have Gjallarhorns and that's why Gjallarhorns have "Wolfpack" rounds young guardian.

Nice fan fiction, didn't happen however.
-
Neither did hunters not being at twilight gap but I mean you know....
-
I would like the reference on that yeah.
-
Were you there?
-
Nice! Thanks for the info
-
You're welcome guardian.
-
Too bad that's not what happened and we might never know what happened. But that's not a real grimoire and therefore is not Canon in the games story to all you diehard hunters out there. Before you get too much hope about the battle of twilight gap remember that.
-
Edited by Dredgen Lore: 3/1/2015 6:56:05 PMIf you think the only things real in the destiny universe is what has been allowed to be told within the game's canon a lot of things wouldn't make sense.
-
Still doesn't make it real. You did an amazing job. But it's still not real. It'll only be real in the games story if Bungie makes it real. And they haven't yet. So no matter how good of a writer you are it is still not part of the game. I think it is a good explanation to why the Hunters didn't fight. But until they release more info on why they didn't we will never know whether it was cowardice or if there was a good reason why they didn't fight. Again I'm not bashing your writing or story you did a superb job and are a very good writer.
-
I very much appreciate your compliments guardian, and understand where you are coming from out of respect to bungie, however I would like to simply propose, what have they done to allow them explicit control over the destiny story? I believe there have been key elements of this universe intentionally withheld from our guardians' knowledge and if I can shed light into some of these areas I believe it is my right to do so.
-
That's because the destiny canon is about as coherent as an alzheimer patients thought process.
-
Indeed, so why would legends such as this be left out?
-
Because the guy that originally wrote the Canon for this game took off with a large chunk of it when he left bungie. Furthermore bungie could have recovered it but chose not to because the writer wanted to be paid royalties.
-
Well written but stop misleading people.
-
This is no mislead, just an alternate path should the open minded choose to follow.
-
It's not in the grimoire. Has nothing to do with being open minded. What makes it misleading is that you state that it's directly from the grimoire, which you know very well it isn't.
-
It may not be from grimoire you have been allowed to see yet.
-
Everyone else says the same.
-
Edited by Dredgen Lore: 3/1/2015 7:14:04 PMI believe most who seek to refute the authenticity of this legend do so out of an unwillingness to appreciate the efforts of the hunters, this legend in no way trivializes the actions of the brave Titans and Warlocks of that battle, there are countless legends in which the Titan or the Warlock was called on to rise up and lift those below, this one just features the hunters that's all.
-
Simply amazing. Wow just wow
-
Someone tell me that wouldn't make for the most badass cutscenes ever?
-
This is fake it would seem. But well done.
-
Edited by Dredgen Lore: 3/1/2015 6:56:52 PMIt's not described in game but there is lots of lore not yet explained, but thank you guardian

Gotta say I loved cayde before this because he always whispers take me with you. Now I know why he wants to get back out there. He knows how to make the lone wolves join together and everybody knows the strength of the pack is in the wolf and the strength of the wolf is in the pack

What card is this on?
