From the grimoire-
During the desperation of the twilight gap battle, the vanguards' most powerful guardians were summoned to defend the entrance to one of the last remaining civilian evacuation zones.
For 120 hours the golden age's most valiant guardians fought and died as they attempted to hold off the overwhelming siege. Recognizing the "grim reality" of this ill fated battle an order of hunters refused to fight and under the command of Cayde-6 disobeyed the vanguard's orders and retreated into the city of illuminatum where they aided the citizens in their exodus to the last city.
Upon the the successful evacuation of humanity's last large scale civilian population the hunters took up defensive positions. When the forces of darkness inevitably overcame the remaining guardians on the front lines and pushed through the twilight gap into the city they met these same hunters.
Here they halted the darkness and survived for six days waging an apache resistance against the legions of hive, vex, and fallen who'd come to collect Earth's greatest resource. In an attempt to buy the people time and to honor the sacrifice of their lost comrades these hunters fought without mercy, and without remorse. Seeking out their enemies and systematically destroying them.
On the seventh day the legions of darkness were forced to retreat. It's because of Cayde-6 and what would later become referred to as "the Wolfpack" that the grief and horror of the twilight gap wasn't the end of humanity.
That's why hunters have Gjallarhorns and that's why Gjallarhorns have "Wolfpack" rounds young guardian.

At first I was reading through the comments on the comment and was like, "Damn, this is so positive!", after about 2 seconds everyone started saying how you made this up and how it never happened. I don't give a flying -blam!- wether this is true or not, but I loved the story. Great writer, keep it up!
-
I greatly appreciate the positivity guardian, and to all those who claim this legend has been falsified I simply ask them, why do Gjallarhorns have Wolfpack rounds? My evidence is from the grimoire's reality if anyone has a theory they would rather believe they are more than welcome to do so. Thing about the truth is it knows it's place and doesn't feel the need to convince anyone.

Edited by AK: 3/17/2015 2:53:39 AMYou made all this up. At Twilight Gap, it was the Fallen Houses we battled, No vex or Hive at all. They would probably kill each other before us. I do enjoy it, just try not to fool those naive kinderguardians .

BOOM ROASTED #HUNTERMASTERRACE
-
wait but there forged in light and they get be "revived by there ghost " so they technically did not die #logic
-
If the ghosts are destroyed too, then there is no reviving them.
-
Your logic is dumb. In order to be revived you need to be dead. Even if of you were to be revived that doesn't change the fact that you died.
-
Not if their ghosts were captured. Like the one outside of crota' temple on the first mission to the moon. #logic
-
Dude literally made all that up. Vex and cabal have never been on earth in our history
-
Where does he say that? Lol
-
Excuse me. Vex have never been on earth
-
You completely made this up... Proof- the battle of the twilight gap was only against the combined forces of the fallen houses. No other enemies involved. That and the complete lack of a grimoire card quote
-
Which card is that from? I was under the assumption that the battle of Twilight Gap was waged against a combined force of the great Fallen houses, not a combined force of Vex, Fallen, and Hive.
-
I like the idea, I don't know if this has been said, but the only problem is that the Twilight Gap was held. It wasn't lost. That and the only group that assaulted the Last City at the Twilight Gap was the House of Devils. So I guess there's three problems. There was no evacuation. The Last City was the one under assault, the Gap was the focus of the assault. Again, good idea, just needs to adhere to the Canon Grimore.

I understand the confusion but there are two halves to the twilight gap, the current crucible training grounds is located near the last city and it was the destination on this fateful day, however the twilight gap referred to here was located on the West Coast of the former United States, it was the evacuation zone that was utilized to charter civilians across the Pacific Ocean to the last city. The legends of the twilight gap have suffered most at the hands of history and the hunters who betrayed the vanguard have all been removed from its retelling. And yes the fallen were the most ferocious of our enemies, they had unified like never before desperate to capture that which guardians hold most precious. However they are only part of why the battle was waged with such intensity. knowing the city of illuminatum which was built over the lost city of angels was in no way as fortified as the last city the darkness attacked with full force hoping to snuff out the light of humanity in one devastating blow. In the end it was the fallen specifically the united house of devils who chased the refugees of illuminatum all the way to the last city's limits and it was here guardians were forced to make their final stand. It is totally within in your rights to doubt me, but I propose that the grimoire released to the guardians of today is abridged heavily censoring and ultimately leaving out whole chapters of our history.

The vex have never been on earth mate. Love the story though.

Edited by Dredgen Lore: 3/2/2015 3:50:52 PMThey haven't been stationed here but they phase through space and time at will and for as long as humanity has existed people have mysteriously gone missing without a trace. The worst thing the vanguard could do would be to facilitate panic so their stories are rated T, perhaps the grim reality is not. Either way I appreciate the compliment guardian.
