The Trolley Problem is kinda creepy. It says pull the trigger, it's the right thing to do. Why is that creepy? Well, a trolley problem is that stupid movie scenario where a guy has to choose between a friend or a bunch of people he doesn't know. Pulling the trigger on this fusion rifle implies killing a member of the darkness. We can assume this is forgoing the needs of the few for the needs of the many, but letting a villain die isn't a trolley problem. This implies that perhaps the 'aliens' aren't so evil, and that our defeat is the only way for them to live. Oh my gosh, I just came up with some crazy theory.

Or it just means that for the problem it's the right thing to kill your friend and save the others

....Trolley Problem is where a Trolley is about to run over 5 people, who do not know it's there. Nearby you there is a switch. If you pull the switch, it will instead run over a different person- only one, and also unaware. No one is watching you,no one will find out. Do you condem one man to die, or let 5 die for one? There is no time, you can only either pull the lever, or not. Another version is that you're on a bridge, and a large man is next to you. There is a trolley, and another 5 people about to be run over. If you push the man over, it'll most likely stop the trolley and save the people. If you don't, the 5 people will die. Which do you do?
