OK, let´s proceed.
Every time there is a debate about subclasses and Arc Blade comes across, the usual comment posted by Hunters is "this Super takes skill".
Yet here is what you can usually see from a Hunter in Arc Blade mode: dudes spamming R1 buttons to let the game direct the attacks for them at superspeed, making almost no effort (and with no skill in it) to actually reach their target.
The problem with Arc Blade is the overall balance: no other subclass has that sum of prolongued damage resistance (Strikers and Voidwalkers only get that for a second), multiple kill potential and speed/mobility. We are talking about a subclass that can cross most maps faster than anyone else, being able to take huge doses of firepower and still stand (we are talking about rockets-to-the-face damage)... And with the right perks, regenerating all life and shields per kill, frustrating every attempt to take them down.
The speed, resistance and damage potential overall combo is simply unmatched.
This wouldn´t be such a problem if it was easier to evade them, especially when you encounter a Bladedancer in Arc mode and there is no one to support you. But what happens?
R1, R1, R1, R1, R1.... Dozens of players spam the melee button and get a free mobility burst that autotargets, and that even allows them to dash in mid-air, making an escape nigh-impossible. "My subclass takes skill". Yeah... ehm, how is that skilled playing?
From my own uses of a Hunter in Arc Blade mode, I have found all of these bits to be true. So I am not only talking about this from my perspective as someone facing Arcbladers, but also from my own.
So here is my proposal to fix the Sonic The Hedgehog mode, putting Arc Blade more in line with the other supers:
- Increase the fraction consumed by every melee press during Arc Blade. Even if it´s a small 10-7%. But it consumes a teeny bit more per R1 use.
Look at the Gunslinger. He gets 3 shots(4 with the symbionte) but if a shot misses, he doesn´t get a second chance. Meanwhile the Arc Blader is able to spam the melee attack everywhere (the same attack that can restore all life if the perk Hungering Blade is used, remember that).
By implementing this change, some players will not be able to spam R1 to speed across the map, with auto-target so they don´t even have to approach the victim strategically to get a kill. You want the kill? Blink. Use invisibility. Approach from corners. But WORK for it, scrubbie.
Smart and truly skilled players will still be able to get their kill streaks. Cheap players will be the only ones affected.
Thoughs?

I would say do that for attacks that miss the target. For some reason, killing targets atm takes more energy than stabbing the air. So make it so that killing people takes the same amount of energy as an air stab now, and then stabbing the air takes more energy.
-
All I know is when I see a blade dancer I turn around and run like a bitch ( it's kind of my signature move).
-
Like how he says take no skill. How much skill does it take to hit 2 buttons m8? None. Also, u don't get 2nd chances, if u miss 1 swipe, that could of hit or your too close, 2 shotgun shots, dead, 2 fusion rifle burst, DEAD, enough shots, DEAD, while the other supers except gunslinger, their isn't enough time to kill and their defense makes them op, (sunslinger sorta) just stop whining scrub, I could counter argument u ALL DAY. It's too EZ to defend because my side is right.
-
#satire or shut up. I get killed constantly while going blade dancer.
-
I love how people always cry for arc blade nerfs but ignore fist of panic which is just as op. Nova bomb as well.
-
This is laughable. You want arc bladers to work for there kills? Oh you mean like when someone panic hits there FOH or Nova bomb? It's a super your not suppose to "work" for it. Yes it's easy to get multiple kills with ace blade and golden gun but Hunter supers have the least damage resistance and if we die we don't get our super back. FOH has the most ridiculous damage resistance and even if you manage to kill them they just get there super back anyways same thing goes for Nova bomb just a little less resistance. Ive killed arc bladers and golden gunners countless times but I can count on one hand how many times I've killed some who is using FOH or Nova bomb.
-
You sir. Are a genious. I love you
-
You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Grow up, and get real.
-
#bitches
-
Dont play crucible if you cant handle it. I dont because I know I suck at crucible. Stick with PvE and you will stop complaining about what classes do what.
-
Shut up dreg. I've wiped entire teams and been shut down during activation. Carry a shotgun and blam me in the face. Works every time. I don't freak out, I laugh and continue running and gunning.
-
Actually bladedancers have a hidden modifier. The more you cry about it, the more powerful they get
-
Adapt, "scrubbie"
-
Man.. With all the time spent making post like these you think that these guys would be in the crucible to get better and not cry on the forums.. Right now it's arc blade it gets nerfed. Next day it's another thing and another and another.. You people are never happy lol..
-
Best way to counter arc blade is with arc blade. I do it all the time and have a 50/50 success rate ( it all depends on who hits first)
-
Guns are OP. All you have to do is look at someone and press rt. We need to make it so people work for their kills.
-
Edited by Mike-MF-Hall: 2/25/2015 2:08:48 PMThis super gives 1-2 kills max against competent opponents.
-
No. To think any super takes skill?? Go back to bed
-
Yeah and at the same time only a max of 2 kills with fist of panic ( although we all know it was designed for 1 on 1 encounters) 2 kills for nova bomb None during radiance I think then it will all be even. As a matter of fact I think we should only be able to wound others a very strategically, just to keep the scrubs out of course, tickle our targets back to life! Avoid the whole OP and scrub wars all together!
-
Keep whining. I'm loving it.
-
Arc blade is does have to be used strategically, you can't just use it whenever you feel like it. You have to predict when. It gets about the same amount of kills as a good nova bomb or fists of havoc. Same does for radiance
-
No. GTFO fgt
-
The damage resistance is half the other subclasses, you can be killed before you get a kill, you can't use it if your injured, you have to aim and can't hit a target that jumps very well. Those are the balancing factors, it's balanced well enough.
-
Quit bitching, shotgun them, lmg, use your super, don't scatter like cock roachs, focus fire as a team. Double tap to body with sniper, pocket infinity. I've shut them down with thorn by back pedaling and spamming shots. I also play one, yeah you can get 12 slashes spamming, and you better hope someone is around unaware, or they have no coordination. I've wiped whole teams and I've been dropped without killing anyone.
-
Bump I love using my hunter for PvP but bladedancer doesn't take much skill to get multiple kills, just go toward the area being taken over Golden gun needs some kind of protection upon activation or at least an exotic armor that does so like the warlock helmet
-
This shipped sailed man. Bungie had a window to fix pvp but did not bother. You are correct that arc blade and hunters in general are an overpowered joke. What will blow your mind is Bungie actually has pvp testers. Wth are they smoking. Pvp is garbage in this game. Treat it as a distraction. Do the easy bounties. Laugh at the mouth breathers that spout out kd or care lol. I laugh when some moron talks smack about pvp. How frigging pathetic and dumb can you be. In other words, destiny pvp is so bad don't care.
