CD Projekt Red, the developers of the acclaimed Witcher series, announced many months ago that they were going to give game owners free DLC. 16 pieces of free DLC including not just aesthetic stuff (which is cool on its own), but some missions as well. So what do you have to do to qualify for this DLC?
... Buy the game. You can buy the game on ANY platform, you do NOT have to preorder, you can get ANY edition of the game from the normal one to the $150 collector's edition... and you get all these DLCs when they release. Now, these DLCs are by no means huge expansions. Some new beards, a single mission here and there, whatever. But they're free. And they're free to everybody with no restrictions. You can even get the game weeks after it launches and get the DLC. Years, even- there's no time limit. And that's cool.
No Destiny type ridiculous exclusives. No Halo type 'preorder from 5 different stores if you want all the DLC.' Despite Witcher being made for PCs before consoles, no 'PC master race' crap. Just flat out 'everybody gets everything, thank you for supporting us.' And that speaks volumes about the developer.
This game has been delayed like three times already. For a lot of games, that would signify people are losing confidence in the game. Not here. Witcher is a source of national pride for them, so each delay isn't just for political reasons or because the developer ran out of time to actually complete the game, but to make the game BETTER than what it was. They could launch now and it'd be complete, if they stuck to their last schedule. But they thought of things they could add so they delayed it to make it cooler. And contrary to most other games, this actually INCREASED hype.
Just how backwards is this company? Free DLC? No exclusives? Paying no attention to preorders? Delaying the game multiple times? Delaying the game multiple times which actually makes people MORE excited? It's crazy.
None of this information is new. The DLC plan was announced back in November. But I'll be damned if it isn't still worth talking about. I'll definitely be PCing this game- I loved the first two. And I'd encourage everybody to support this developer at launch rather than waiting for demonstrating flat out honesty, ridiculous amount of care for their product, and going against some of the most disturbing trends in the gaming industry today.

Mad respect. I've not played the witcher series but this has caused me to want to support the dev. I'm buying my first witcher when three launched for ps4
