This includes fantasy and sci-fi.
My choice is the Combine.
A multi-universal species from half-life so absolutely immense and powerful that they reverse-engineered earth's technology, upgraded far beyond human ability, brainwashed some humans and had them invade themselves. They did this and stomped all resistance within 7 hours. This was done by a backwater lesser combine city mind you.

Edited by Jeremy_The_One: 7/2/2015 12:43:37 AMThe flood. They had reached the point where they could manipulate matter at will and all life in the galaxy had to be destroyed and even then it still did not work. They also win against everything else because they use the enemy's tech and knowledge against them.

Forerunners, Precursors, Reapers, the Imperium of Man (wh40k).
Reapers indoctrinate Imperium. Precursors use neural physics and stuff to assume control of Reapers. Forerunners support Precursors. Man gets tech fixed up and gain title of Reclaimers, Reapers invade the Warp and indoctrinate everything, resulting in a 'calming' phase (reverting to [Place name to do with souls?] ). Precursors leave galaxy and go to sleep in a holiday mini-galaxy. Forerunners build Halo Array (improved, designed with ability to focus on one species or type of, can be focused into a local area blast < galaxy for less genocide) then sit in Shield Worlds while Mankind is dealing with everything (see 'If the Emperor had text to speech...' for an idea).
Terminators?

The Blight from A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. The last 10 seconds of their development prior to their transcendence was equivalent to 10,000 years of human development.

The Flood Only way to defeat them is to kill all life in the galaxy

Forerunners or precursors. Forerunners did beat the precursors, reshape planets and stars, and conquered planets in hrs with weapons that streak across continents and warriors that razed continents in short time as well. Also factories that produce efficient bots per minute , and harness hard light like a lightsaber (your move STARWARS) However precursors have the indestructible orbital bridges, structures that withstand forerunner weapons(excluding halos ) and then the flood ...
most important part to remember is they both have the capacity of GALACTIC destruction
If you mean the most powerful fictional race, that's debatable. The most powerful race in fiction is us: we can create it.

Edited by Starfall Shadow: 7/1/2015 10:13:16 PMCelestialsapiens from Ben 10. They are literally omnipotent. "Celestialsapiens are among the most powerful species in the universe, being capable of controlling reality, space and time. Their reality warping is seemingly without limit - a Celestialsapien can make its very thoughts become reality and survive anything up to (and including) the destruction of the entire universe around them. Celestialsapiens are apparently immortal, or at least extremely long-lived, as they can live for tens of thousands of years before even being considered "mature"."

The sayins...obviously

Gorgons. -blam!- the Combine . It takes the Combine 7 hours to crush all resistance. The gorgons do it in 10 seconds, tops.
