The Dreams of Alpha Lupi have always intrigued me. In the universe, they seem poetic and prophetic somewhat. They are often used to describe the planets or events that may have occurred in history.
As for the Brays, they appear to be a family line that has lived and survived since the Golden Age. Some known Brays include:
- Clovis Bray - a head researcher and founder of the research organization of the same name on Mars. The organization rivaled that of the Ishtar Collective, and it made technological discoveries that made the city of Freehold the "gem of Mars". Whether there are more Brays involved within the organization is unknown.
- Elsie Bray - a tech-savvy Guardian who created ship designs. She disappeared sometime during her lifetime.
- Ana Bray - a legendary Guardian who fought during the Battle of Twilight Gap. Her cloak, Strength of the Pack, bears a wolf insignia.
- I'm sure there are plenty of others, but I have not been able to find anymore.
My theory is that the Brays are connected to Alpha Lupi. With the chest piece, Crest of Alpha Lupi (Hunter), the description reads, "You've heard all the stories about the Wolf. None of them are true. You are the Wolf." Similarly, the Titan version of this armor reads, "Whoever survives our passing, does so by our consent." It seems to me that the Wolf is more of a role than a single person. It is a line of legends that have taken up the title of Wolf and, in doing so, undergoes the trials and tribulations involved in reaching this status. Another line of legends in history? The Brays.
Therefore, I believe that Alpha Lupi was the original wolf, hence the name ALPHA (First letter of the Greek Alphabet) Lupi, and perhaps the original Bray. Because of this, future generations of the Bray bloodline are destined to become the legend of the Wolf.
What do you guys think? Too far-fetched? Let me know below if you have any research or thoughts on the theory.

Upon further inspection "lupi" is italian for wolves. Alphi lupi is also the the brightest star in the lupus constellation ( wolf ) Lupi is also latin origin of lupus and is sometimes used in a plural way...alpha, beta, etc. So the wolves on the armor makes more sense...but a parallel is the gallajorn which has a bunch of wolves on it and some titan marks have wolves as well... Not forgetting the iron banner event rewards have wolves all over. So alot of wolves imagery pop up. Is alpha lupi a single guardian or an elite group...like the iron lords...and why only alpha crests for titans and hunters?

Coincides with the scouting party of hunters the five coyotes?

Edited by Omega Orochi: 2/20/2015 11:28:48 PMI get where you're coming from. Interesting theory, but the prefix "lupi" as in lupine means wolf. Crest of Alpha Lupi would mean Crest of the First Wolf. Alpha is used as a term for the lead wolf in a pack. So the armor belongs to whomever that was. However, note that the game frequents references to wolves, such as in crucible with Strength of the Pack and so forth. One of these occur when you are in first place if I'm not mistaken. So in essence, this could also mean something to the relation of just being the best or in first place, and here is the armor of the first place holder. Its possible that one of the Brays were just legendary in Crucible, more specifically Ana Bray. Or the armor was made in her honor for Twilight Gap, maybe she killed the most enemies. This would also explain the "Dreams of Alpha Lupi" because everyone dreams of being first or the best and in reality, at some points in anything you do on Destiny, you are. I.E.- First Place at the time in a Crucible match, Most Kills at the end of a strike. That's more than likely why it says "you are the Wolf"....Because you are. The titan version refers to this probably because if we are all wolves and/or part of a pack, the "consent" would be dying to you (Crucible) or allowing you to die and not backing you up (PVE) and vice-versa As for the Brays, I believe they have an entire story in their own and they were probably part of the main story background before it became fragmented and almost nonexistent.

I myself thought of alpha lupi as a group of guardians...first guardians to rise and form a group...a group of hunters and titans...elites. I just find it curious as to why so many dead ghosts have alpha lupi dreams info stored in them...it couldnt be that all ghosts share the same info and upload onto a "ghost net" Each ghost has their own knowledge from collected experience from themselves and their guardians. But I could be missing something important that would turn my theory on its head

Sounds like a plausible theory...do you have any other information to expand upon?...
