A few years? Just curious but do you really think you'll stick to your guns on that one? For years? I'm not a parent but I def wouldn't be able to keep that promise for years for years. That sounds exhausting. Don't you think that if anything your kid would learn how to better go about the internet?

  • I'd start with a few years till 13, and allow trust to be earned. So no, I wouldn't hard line it, but I'd start at a few years. Most people don't understand how serious this situation is from a parent's perspective. Character deletion is light. Kids have more important things to worry about anyway. Just imagine if it weren't just a troll, and was a real predator....

  • Yeah man I get you. As a matter of fact I think this is the main lesson to be learned here, not that cheating is bad (because everyone cheats in video games) but just to not hand out trust so easily. I'm glad it was just Destiny characters and not something else, because in reality, kids are naive and predators take advantage of this and kidnap them etc. You can't really blame the kid because they're young and naive but still. However, I still think that after this, the kid would exercise just as much caution on the internet now at 11 than at 13.
