Here is some rng for us. Death singer I get no land beyond after finishing Crota I get red death. Both check points give a chance for exotic drops. Bother gave me exotics next raid what did I get from them two check points energy and shards and a helmet. So really it is all about a rng code Cuz at a certain point I think everything has a numbered assigned to it yes Ghorn probably has only 1 number and no land beyond or dragons breath may have 10 but they all have a number and the computer picks a random let's say 6 digit code and it matches that code up with what ever is on the loot table.

i thought about this as well... all weapons assigned to certain numbers between 1-1000 ie. Ghorn might have the numbers 1,35,364,785,1000, as an example. that gives shitty odds of getting it. and 1000s of players just can't be that lucky getting it 5-10 times. that just makes it more mindblowing

Yeah but it truly is random though if you think of it like this Cuz if it's like a slot machine you can get the same numbers over and over specially if it's only a 4 digit code and if certain exotics have more numbers than others and I also believe Bungie changes a weapons numbers each and every week with the reset to change it up and assign more or less numbers to exotics Cuz some weeks I see then drop like mad and hen others not so much

changes the number? that's even worse! how come the same people beat the odds then and roll the same stuff?

That one I haven't figured out but have you noticed how exotics will drop like mad for everyone one week and then the next week is dry as heck. Last week my raid team I run with we got between death singer and Crota normals and hard atheons and gorgon chest and nightfalls a total of 29 exotics but this week after doing the same amount we only got 8 as a six man team. So I kind of wonder if they do mess with the rng each week
