Hello everyone,
I pre-ordered Destiny at Gamestop with the Expansion Pass before the beta started. I received a code for my pass on the master receipt. I entered the code immediately (before the game released) and Microsoft accepted it (I unlocked the Expansion Pass).
Game releases, I played avidly. I buy new games and stopped playing Destiny so much, but I came back about 1 week ago to download my Expansion Pass because, ya know, I bought the damn thing and wanted to play. Well lo and behold, the code had "already been used".
ಠ_ಠ
I immediately call Gamestop who said this was a problem on Bungie's side. I then immediately go to the Bungie support page where there is a very conveniently placed link to a whole page of problems related to expansion code errors. I search, find my problem, and complete the steps that Bungie had required (photo of receipt, code and your name printed next to the day's date).
Now here's where the fun begins:
The page had said to send a pic of the code on the "official" Destiny card.......I never received one. I got my code on the bottom of a plain GameStop receipt. Either way, I sent the e-mail containing a clearly visible view of my receipt (my payment, the code, the store address and number) and my name and the date. I even included my copy of the game! I received a response e-mail the next day basically saying a screwed up. It was clearly visible so it has to be the damned receipt. Thank you GameStop.
I called back to GameStop because the e-mail I received said that if the code was on a receipt that it is most likely their fault. LO AND BEHOLD I get steered in the direction of Microsoft.......
I really don't want to face the beast so please someone help me! I payed good money for this game and really enjoy it so I would very much like to play my product or get some sort of refund.

From your post, the code already having been use makes sense - you stated you entered the code immediately after purchasing the game. It sounds like you may not have completed the purchase, though. Retail store codes fund your Xbox live/PSN account with the money required to purchase the expansion pass from the online console store. They do not directly add the expansion pass to your account. Check your account balance, the money should be there. If so, purchase the expansion pass with those funds!
