Close mindedness? How? I'd say its more close minded to listen to everything in a book rather then observing the universe to come up with our own conclusions.

It's close minded to shut out the possibility of God being real which enables you to see and do all things. You do realize you can be a Christian and still have your own opinion about the world and the universe right?
