So, I read an article about the Grammy debacle with Kanye West & Beck... and normally, I hate the guy. I think he's pompous and arrogant, and a complete ass.
But at the end of the article, West said "I feel that racism is a distraction to humanity. We are one race. We are the human race, period."
WTF. This man, who normally makes a complete arse of himself, said something that I completely agree with. He said something that most politicians and protestors can't comprehend.
Have I gone crazy? Did Kanye... really say something MEANINGFUL and INTELLIGENT?

It is a very unfortunate "distraction" if "distraction" means that it is preventing us from moving forward. But there was and is real racism out there that makes for a bunch of consequences. People are actually living with these consequences every day, black and white, and it's difficult to just "move past it". I really wish we all could, but that doesn't mean much. If Kanye has gotten over the justified resentment many black people feel, that is awesome for him, but even his stance doesn't mean too much I suppose in the bigger picture.
