You won't ever get it. Sorry to trick you into coming here, but we've got a problem. Hear me out.
"Competition" is the word.
It's the reason we play this game, and it's the reason we agree to put food on the table for the employees at Bungie.
Destiny has a problem, especially once we begin to approach that level cap.
Competition and achievement (winning) are no longer part of the equation.
The gameplay and content itself are left to fend for your desires, and they simply don't cut it.
You've gotten nearly every armor and item you could want aside from a few preferential differences in perks and stuff, but that generally isn't enough to keep you coming back.
Same goes for weapons: Bungie is smart enough to know it can't give you everything. You have to be hungry in order for you to want more, but even those 1 or 2 ever-elusive weapons don't provide enough fuel to the fire.
Two things:
1) In-Game Player Statistics
I've used the sword to kill Hard Crota twice each week since Hard mode was released, and I know other players have done it much more. I'm sure some players have slain the Archon Priest hundreds of times while others have reduced Atheon to ashes more times than me, you , and your mom combined. I wonder who it is that has killed the Nexus more than anyone in the world?...I wonder where I rank in that category, or maybe what percentile am I in? Is my 1.6 K/D ratio in Control really good or just kinda good? But most importantly: There is a guy wanting to join my raid team who claims to be very experienced and to have beaten Crota 3 times every week on hard.. Is he full of crap?
They don't have to be the most detailed statistics, Bungie. We don't need regression analysis or trend lines or anything fancy. Maybe some basic sortable rankings, percentiles, numbers... Give players a record that they can not only be proud of, but be motivated to to improve upon.
2.) Accomplishments/Milestones and Recognition
I'm a level 32 and have beaten Crota on Hard. Therefore, I've got arguably the most impressive "trophies" in the game: a number 32 next to my name, a Glowhoo shader, and the Bane of the whatever Crota ship.
You have these things too, don't you? Don't we all feel special?
No matter that I just smacked that sucker into the ground for the x-teenth time...I don't have that cool shader or emblem to show off to the world that I've killed him 10, 20, or 50 times. I didn't get the special chest piece reserved only for players with 20,000 crucible kills, and I somehow missed out on the exclusive weapon only obtainable after you've slain Atheon for 20 straight weeks!
Bungie, its the simple things in life that can make all the difference. Someone famous said that I think.
And for us gamers, all we want is to recognize and be recognized. Give us long-lasting competition...provide us the incentive to improve our statistical records and to reach those momentous milestones.
Without those little things, what else do we have to fight for?

I wish we got stuff like this...good idea
