I've always wondered how other people quantify life.
My background:
I'm a commercial credit analyst, I'm a husband, I'm a father.
My perspective:
We are an anomaly in this infinitely large Universe. Now, that is not to say that we are "alone", an anomaly in this instance just means that, in my mind, life isn't a frequently occurring event in the Universe. We know so little, that could mean 5 earth like planets, it could mean a billion. The Universe is just that expansive.
With that perspective in mind, what does life mean to you? When we know that even if life is an anomaly, we are still so insignificant in the grand scheme. Yet we try to apply significance to our lives with things that we call legacies, careers, reputations.
So what does it mean to you? Is life given to us so we can pass the proverbial torch on to future generations in hopes that we can someday answer our most coveted questions?
Just some food for thought, rather than discussing first world gaming problems, or talking about the kardashians, or talking about what new trick our dogs learned last week.
Edit: so Occam's Razor. K.

Life is life. You just do what it takes to not die. We try to do things that make us happy so we aren't just waiting around to die. We reproduce so the species carries on (we're basically hard wired to do this). That doesn't mean it can't be awesome and that you don't have purposes beyond survival. But basically? Life is the time we spend trying not to die. Was thinking about this a while ago... I mean, everything living just wants to carry on living. I mean, plants. Do they have a lifelong dream? No. They just carry on the species and try to live as long as possible. What other purpose does it have? Bacteria are alive. E.Coli is alive. Purpose? To keep living. It has no other function than to multiply and expand the species. It has no other purpose. I know they aren't like humans but life aplies to everything that lives, so why consider our existence differently? Just my opinion...

life is just a bunch of things we'd probable consider dead on their own working together to preform complex actions.

You either get busy living or get busy dying. Also 42.

Life is progression. You are full of joy when progressing, and are sad when you digress. The teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will show you how to progress. :D

Life is a combination of chemical processes that occur under extremely rare circumstances, and involve the creation of a series of molecules capable of reproduction and self-producing motivations and affinities.

I believe in the relatively scientific definition of life: anything that produces energy, grows, breathes in some way or another, has a bit of a nervous system, consumes, and reproduces.
