2 RepliesWhat I don't understand is why so many people have such a hard time understanding that Bungie's exotics are not the same as those of other games. [b]They are not a tier above legendary. They are not intended to be super rare[/b] Bungie specifically stated that they wanted exotics to [b]look, feel, and sound[/b] overpowered without unbalancing the game or being the one gun everyone used. (i.e. without actually being OP) What this means is that an exotic is supposed to be different from other items [b]of the same type[/b], not necessarily more powerful. Icebreaker is an exotic sniper rifle because it has perks that are unlike any other sniper rifle Sometimes the perks aren't *quite* as unique, and you are able to find legendaries with super lucky better perk rolls. But those aren't guaranteed perk sets. There is [b]nothing [/b]wrong with getting a legendary with a better perk roll than an exotic. And the exotic isn't a higher tier, it is merely unique within that item family. Why complain? It means you get a better weapon [b]and [/b]get to use a different exotic! Personally I think "Unique" would have been a much better identifier than exotic. especially given that you can only equip one at a time. "Exotic" also comes with all the mmo best tier gear baggage that most people get hung up on.
