The Short Story Made Long:
Tuesday night, we took Corny99 for his first visit to the Vault of Glass. The switchplate encounter went smoothly, punctuated only by Corny’s unintentionally hilarious comment of, “So, is that it?”
After a textbook defense of the confluxes, we started to get maybe a little cocky, and ran into some Oracle-related complications. Once we got through those though, we got to one of the Highlights of the Night:
<as the team is waiting to trigger the Templar fight, we notice that Jcarols isn’t with us>
Jcarols: “HEY! WHERE’S MY SPIRIT BLOOM CHEST!”
Chubaca (I think): “Uhh… it’s not ready yet. We haven’t actually killed the Templar yet…”
Jcarols: <embarrassed silence…>
The Templar was, however, disposed of with nary a hitch, and Jcarols got her Spirit Bloom in the end
That brings us to our next highlight: Gorgon killing!
We seem to have a surprising number of Grimoire-OCD-completionists in our crew who wanted to kill a Gorgon. So we did – twice, just to make sure everyone could get the Grimoire Card. For those of you who weren’t there, don’t sweat it – I’ve attached a link to the card here:
Tuesday night’s platform puzzle should probably be called Jcarols’ redemption, as she actually managed to make it on her first attempt, which is a significant accomplishment given her previous struggles at that stage. Chubaca on the other hand, got to be “That Guy” on the platforms this time around, much to everyone else’s amusement (especially Jcarols’)…
Atheon took a little longer than he should have, due to a few missteps, including:
- BTrain being unable to resist the temptation to try to get rockets off through the shield
- Thrash coming out of the portal with the relic and overshooting the middle platform, falling into the abyss while leaving the rest of the team huddled together while Atheon blasted the <expletive> out of us
- That bug where a portal team re-emerges on the Atheon side of the portal, in a perfect spot to get squished by Atheon
The Loots:
After finally getting our act together and reducing Atheon to a pile of scrap, we had a few VoC’s drop, some Chatterwhites as you would expect, and then, all of a sudden, over the chat:
Corny99 (butchering the pronounciation): “What’s this Gallerhorn?”
BTrain: “No way…”
Team: Various versions of “OMG” “Aaaahhh” and “Why are you not more excited?!?!”
Not spoken, but almost audible: People who have played hundreds of hours dying a little inside at the thought of Corny99 getting a GHorn on his first trip through the Vault of Glass
Praise RNGesus,
BTrain

Hilarious report, B! Good to see you apply your Georgetown MBA skills so productively. Next I want to see some statistical modelling to help us maximize loot drops. Also, I had totally forgotten about Thrash falling off the ledge, so glad that got on the record to remind us all.
