Gyallerhorn is very situational. I don't see myself using it unless for boss battles. The reason being is that 1st. It's a heavy exotic 2nd. It's an exotic so it takes up that slot. 3rd. I prefer using a primary exotic. It's all on preference though, just some people can't seem to be able to play without it.
