First of all, I wouldn't be joining your fireteam for anything.... you're useless.
Second, the jealousy is clearly strong with you.
Third, "crutch" hilarious when the best is clearly the best.

I don't overuse it, but when something is the best why wouldn't you use it?

Gyallerhorn is very situational. I don't see myself using it unless for boss battles. The reason being is that 1st. It's a heavy exotic 2nd. It's an exotic so it takes up that slot. 3rd. I prefer using a primary exotic. It's all on preference though, just some people can't seem to be able to play without it.

Try going through a raid without using it, you will see how it is a crutch and why I scrapped it when I got it day one
