I actually rocked the Invective a LOT during the Vault of Glass days, finding it one of the most useful guns. I ran it as a Defender Titan most of the times, and these are the situations where it came in handy:
Defending the Pillars: if I was out of Rocket ammo to take out the Praetorians that came from the portals, I´d throw my Magnetic Grenade at them. Most enemies duck when there is a grenade nearby, I took that time to run up to him and when the shields were down, I emptied the clip of Invective on the Praetorian. Ammo would have regenerated for the next Praetorian.
Conflux & Oracles: Anytime I was short of Scout Rifle ammo, Invective would help me clear out a small wave of Goblins. It was also one of the fastest ways to destroy Oracles: 1 or 2 shots at point blank and down it went.
Templar Fight: anytime the Templar trapped me, I switched to Invective and emptied the clip, breaking the bubble in no time to shoot the Templar.
Final room: keeping Venus/Mars open, I used the same Praetorian tactic, sometimes being able to defend a portal all by myself. Also, in the Hard version, when Atheon bubbles some people, I could also free myself in no time with Invective.
In short, a stubby but reliable monster. With the PVE change I might just start using it again!
