Attack Damage vs Impact
Can someone definitively explain what determines damage in this game? Best yet, could Bungie just... put it out there so we know? I keep seeing different explanations saying completely different things. A straight, tested answer would be great.

EDIT 1: I also need to know, apparently, if Impact is the same across all weapon classes. Does my Pulse Rifle with the same impact as my Scout Rifle do the same damage per round (not per burst)? Again, how do we know? Anything confirmed?

But if you face enemies higher level then your weapon I believe that your light level has an effect on it as well. As a level 32 i used my devil you know during crotas end and against level 32 enemies it was still doing 1505 critical damage. It seems that if you are the same level as the enemy then your weapon will still do its max damage.
