http://kotaku.com/five-months-in-hardcore-destiny-players-are-hitting-a-1684813586
This is not a bash. It comes from someone who, like many of us, really likes Destiny but is reaching a point of burn-out. The things that popped out to me are the lack of carrots and poor communication from Bungie.
If you trawl the forums, you'll find many threads dedicated to each point made, but this is a handy summation of the frustration hardcore Destiny players are, and have been, facing of late.
I'm no hater, and like Kirk, the article's author, I know there's an unbelievable game inside Destiny. I'm looking forward to HoW, but until then, it'll just have to be a strike now and again.
Edit 1: You guys all rock. It's been a very clear-headed conversation in here so far, aside from some weak trolls. And thanks for the bumps! I think it's good to read what a lot of us have been thinking.
Edit 2: I'm pretty sure the forum ninjas have buried any Kotaku-related posts so they don't trend. That's their prerogative, and somewhat understandable despite the normal levels of vitriol you can generally find on these forums.
Feel free to bump if you think others should read it but, after over twenty-four hours of pretty constant replies from you crazy, magnificent bastards, it's fair to say that we don't need an article to spur healthy discussion about one of our favorite games.
You guys are -blam!-ing killing my phone.
Read the article and agree with almost every word. This game could have been so much better. Not buying another title unless some serious changes are made.

Edited by Stanry Roo: 2/11/2015 10:55:44 PMYup I feel the burnout to! It's to much grinding for little to no rewards, which makes me feel like there is no point in doing Nightfall, VoG or Crota! I will check the forums from time to time to receive news and if Xür sell anything usefully! But to be honest HoW is the make it or break it for me whit Destiny, for number of reasons, one is Deej who barely interacts whit the community more then he must, it feels like he lost the passion of being a community manager and it's just another job for him! It's sad!

Edited by dacefett: 2/12/2015 1:41:32 PMI'm feeling the burn to, and between the arbitrary nerfs for no reason, the lack of comunication from bungle (intentional), and the feeling that they cater to the vocal PvP asshats constantly are causing my guardians light to be dying, that said nothing wrong with a bit of dying light, good night, good luck destiny.

I'm not exactly a fan of kotaku, but my sentiments exactly. Me and my friend are just keeping up with the nightfalls and doing occasional raids, biding our time till trials of osiris or HoW.

"Weekends are an exciting time in the world of Destiny, because that's when Xur comes. Like a sad Santa with a mostly empty sack on his shoulder, the Tentacle-Faced One arrives and, inevitably, disappoints the shit out of everyone." This. I want to post this on every "What do you think Xur will sell this week?" thread.

In short: it's shit

Edited by Hidefininja: 2/11/2015 11:45:36 PMOddly, this isn't trending. It appears the ninjas have buried any Kotaku related-threads. Ninjabump.

I actually read this yesterday, and he does make some serious points- some of which I didn't know, like the importance of heavy ammo in the CE hard raid, and why the bug is an issue. Anyway, I have not played the game as much as he has, but I'm already there. I have two 31's and one 29, all with armor and weapons I like already, so other than raid gear and the treasured GH, there isn't much for me to do. The ROC strikes are dropping much less than they used to in terms of blue engrams or purple as they did when I was lower level and the game considered it "harder" for me, I guess. Haven't seen a (decent, as in not Dragonsbreath) exotic drop in ages. Keep getting shards and commendations on my faction rep. So what is there for me to do? Anyway, it was a well written summary of much of what I see posted here.

I stopped playing Destiny a while back. It was for multiple reasons but the lack of stuff and grinding was a big one. I have since switched to Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls and I love it. Even though I am grinding some of the same rifts and levels I have not felt any burn out. I am figuring it is for a few reasons that if they were put into Destiny it would make for a better time. 1. Loot drops. Loot drops are much better in D3. Not only does loot drop more often but it can be increased by items that give a higher chance of better loot. 2. Crafting. There are a ton of high level items to craft. Ingredients drop fairly regularly and items can be salvaged for rare ingredients. 3. Matchmaking. Nothing more needs to be said. 4. Trading. Most items in game can be traded including ingredients. This I feel can really help out Destiny if this is implemented. Your grind will be nowhere near as bad if you knew you could trade for what you need. Just a few ideas as to what could/needs to change to help with the time investment by people.

I am a big mmo'er wow, eve, swtor, rift, elderscrolls, final fantasy ,Everquest, guild wars1 and 2 ,lord of the rings, warspear.
