So, I finished my first hard Crota last night.
Here's what happened and how it opened my eyes a little.
I put it out on the forums to see if there were any experienced hard raiders that could take a first timer through, I put that I was 32 and have maxed weps including Gjallarhorn (I'll get to that later).. I had a response and joined a group of 5 lads. The guy that had invited me was in fact a level 31, the way these forums talk I thought it was a bit odd as everyone always says no 31's allowed..but he was sporting the glowhoo so I thought I'd run with it. So the team consisted of 4 32's and 2 31's (which of course included me who needed walking through hard)
Turns out that these 31's could more than handle themselves in this raid and even more than that, practically drag my sorry ass 32 through most of it. I know there is a certain amount of elitism involved with being 32 and doing hard mode but judging by last night, after I become accustomed to this raid I won't be turning 31's away... These guys said they had done it with 3 31's and 3 32's and I'm inclined to believe them!
Which brings me into my second point, the Gjallarhorn. I was lucky enough to get this dropped on normal Crota a while back. I levelled it up through bounties and synthesis and never fired it since. I couldn't get why everyone was so for it as I'd much prefer to use my exotic slot for a primary or special. After using it on Crota in hard I can honestly say now, I know why everyone wants this weapon! It's an absolute beast and if at least 3 people have it, Crota stands no chance. I believe Gjallarhorn should be sold by Xur soon to give everybody a fighting chance as lots are still unlucky enough not to have this weapon drop through RNG.
These are my own thoughts, feel free to let me know what you think of my observations and If you agree/disagree.

I played through with zero Ghorns on the team. Used icebreakers and one or two people used a slow fire scout rifle to DPS crota. Then the last sword part they rocked him with rockets and everything they got. Normal tracking rockets. No rockets fired until the end for the sake of time. If your team has a system, it can work. And it worked with icebreakers.
