I thought it looked badass, but I know it's going to receive negative feedback for retaining the traditional light-saber look.

In theory, yes it would be. It adds an additional contact surface to deal more strikes with. Given that Sith as a whole tend to favor more brutal styles of fighting... I can see it working. It's not a finesse sword, more of a bruiser's weapon

Also as a quick melee counter. Lock blades, sidestep, crossguard into the head.
