Hmm... The only people in my group to not yet have received the gjallarhorn, had in fact created hunters as their first toons. Coincidence?
Edit: theory proven false by many a hunter. ;)

Very interesting one 3 of my friends all started with hunters and only until 2 of them had other characters dos the get the ghorn, the 3rd still doesn't have it has his Titan is still low lvl

My Hunter was my first character and I got ba ghorn.off him

This is me too sadly. I've got three 32's and started in Sept with the release. Last night, I ran my buddy, who's new to the game, thru his first nightfall with his recently-turned 27 warlock. Boom. Jellyhorn. FML. I got 10 ascendant shards which are basically worthless now with radiant materials. Such a waste. Bungie should atleast give a chance at radiant materials, not only ascendant ones since all post-DLC items require that.
